    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

I disagree about behemoth. He can be countered and he has protection from nothing. The important thing is the countered portion. This is a big disadvantage when compared to emrakul. And honestly, if...

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

Why do vengevines make the matchup easier? They get their strength from recursion but don't recur if swords or terminus-ed.

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

The tempo matchup tends to be in our favor as is. They run out of things to deal with all the elves pretty quick, and with coiling oracle, we get even more cards to overwhelm them with.

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

I haven't played with it much so maybe I havent seen full value yet, but when is arbor better than fetching a basic forest or savannah?
  7. Re: Can someone justify the statement "It takes skill to play reanimator"?

I just think a good rule of thumb is that if a deck's mirror match isn't determined by skill, then it's usually not great for the format. I think if you're playing a reanimator mirror, skill...
  8. Can someone justify the statement "It takes skill to play reanimator"?

I just don't see it. I played a guy last night who was obviously a very good player, but he was playing reanimator and I never got to see his skillz. Playing this deck has less decision-making that...

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

If you know you're playing a miracle deck, you have to hold as many guys in hand as possible until the turn you combo, and even then, make sure you drop guys like visionary and regal force as early...

    @danyul
Ya I board the pacts to race combo. I used to run a 4 pact list for a long time and I love how insanely fast it was. There's too much removal (and jitte) around right now for it to be worth...

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

They won't have any mana for the first two turns of the game if they fetch.

Edit: Also strange but effective board choice: heartwood storyteller against control has proven to be awesome.

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

Ya I think stifle is meta-dependent.

Another question: board for combo? I know thorn is used here and there, but a turn one answer would be good....what about boarding in root maze for combo?...

Also, By comparison, hierarch really isn't much acceleration. If you play a vial turn 1, on turn two you play a tax effect, which is the same thing you do with hierarch. The acceleration really only...

True, but the SB needs something to give an advantage not just come closer to being even with them-they have removal too. The thing I liked about meekstone is it's a HUGE advantage, but I understand...

    Re: [Deck] Elves Combo

wouldn't 2x viridian shaman in the board be better than 1 shaman and 1 grip given shaman's interaction with symbiote and the fact that we can tutor for it? Unless enchantments are THAT important haha.

What do you guys think of a more D&T approach? Ensures nearly everything is uncounterable with both vial and cavern, and focuses even more on the mana choking. Loses knight, hierarch, and quirion...

cutting thorns ya. I don't think there is enough relevance in the SB to cut all 12 though. Probably just 4 fatties for the thorns- and maybe linvala.

Just came up with a very different list than what I was playing-and it's testing a lot better:

    lands
    17 Forest

    creatures:
    4 Elvish Spirit Guide
    4 Fyndhorn Elves
    4 Llanowar Elves
