Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Last weekend, I tried a build with Careful Study in a 20 player tournament. To cut a long story short, I'll go back to Ponder.

That's the deck I played (61 cards, shame on me):

    4 Griselbrand
    1...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

    @Koby:

You're right that more Griselbrands raise the percentage to discard one via Thoughtseize or Therapy. But adding Study enables even more starting hands. I'm far away from saying that Study...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

After reading Vad_'s post, I just goldfished a Careful Study build around 60 times. It's definately worse at digging for specific cards, but it produces so much more keepable hands. Maybe 2 LDVs can...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

After a not so glorious 4-4 finish in Strasbourg, here is a short report.

Because I had to work, we couldn’t go there on Friday. So we did the ride to Strasbourg on Saturday at 3am, arriving at...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

After some testing last weekend, I totally agree.

I've also come to a point where I don't like Reverent Silence in the UW Miracle matchup. I'll play a third Abrupt Decay in that slot. While...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I'm still testing the Intuition. I think it's a close call between Intuition and LDV. Intuition into 3 Griselbrand or 2 Grisel and 1 Child costs as much mana as LDV into Entomb, but LDV/Entomb can be...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

That's the list I'll probably play at GP Strasbourg:

    2 Griselbrand
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    1 Children of Korlis
    1 Tendrils of Agony

    4 Entomb
    3 Goryo's Vengeance
    4 Shallow Grave

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

After testing Lim-Dul's Vault during two tournaments and a couple of test games, I'll cut it again.
The effect definately *is* awesome but it's too expensive in the long run. It shines in the games...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Ok, it makes sense this way.
I think I'll try the Realm out next weekend. Besides removing multiple hate enchantments or creatures, phasing out lands to shut off countermagic and then go off with...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Maybe I'm getting it wrong, but how does Teferi's Realm help against a Geist?
During your upkeep you choose creatures -> Geist phases out.
In your opponent's next untap, Geist phases in again and...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Just another report, testing Lim-Dul's Vault:

    The List:

    4 Polluted Delta
    2 Verdant Catacombs
    2 Underground Sea
    1 Bayou
    1 Scrubland
    1 Swamp

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Tin Fins just forced me to create an account. ;)
After winning our local tournament with the deck last week, I decided to take it to a GP Trial for Strasbourg today. It didn’t end so well.

    That’s...
