    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I will go to my local tournament this evening.

The list will be quite similar to the Greg Hatch one... I want to try it after his advice :-) I would have really really like to try the Tidal...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Honestly & unluckily that is the answer that I was imaging to read.

I noticed that the only way that I can win against Affinity is:

Turn one -> I start -> Chalice of Void

    It does not mean...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Copying the Mutavaults to play around daze is a very nice trick. :)

May I ask you another question? How do you play against Affinity? (I know that is not so common as it was before but it happened...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Just to clarify I did not run exactly the same list, I had 4 vials for example. Anyway he is not the only one who is getting good results with that kind of list, you can find more list like that in...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Well my idea was to try something similar to this list: http://mtgdecks.net/decks/view/62699

But you can find a lot of list like that one in the last tournament.

So no waste, 4 mutavault and...

    [Deck] Merfolk

Ok... I tried the more aggro version... I got hammered... I will go back really soon to the tempo one.

    1st match against ad nauseam
I won the first game (probably the only one where the Merfolk...

The lesson is: mulligan if you don't have 2 submerge, a needle and a jitte in your hand :-P apart from the joke, yes it is true, we need to be lucky against Elves. Even if I think that probably the...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I would run one and one.
If you play against elves you put both them in. If you draw the Totem you are very happy, if you draw the Chalice you are still happy. :)
And you can still use the Chalice...

IMHO, having two different kind of philosophies means having different results against different matchup.

I usually play more tempo and I have never had...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

The thing is: looking at the result you are totally right. We should start to think more aggro.
My wondering is: will we be that fast to beat decks like Elves ?
Aren't we going to lose a bit too...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Same reason why I want to try Stifle.

I have read your list and I like it just a few questions:

    No mutavault at all?
Are not 4 caverns maybe too many?
Are you planning to try anything that...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

Interesting list and I am curious about Sygg too.

Regarding the sideboard, I would play Chalice of the Void instead of Steel Sabotage... Against Affinity is amazing and you can still play it...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

I played against painters a few times. I would say that is ok as matchup but I play with 10 counter maindeck plus 4 cursecatcher plus 3 in the sideboard.

D&T can be difficult, it depends a lot...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

To me it seems a solid good list.

I like your idea to play the cage, I could add one on my sb, maybe removing the Jitte.

Honestly I think that Jitte is really too slow for this deck. I played...

    Re: [Deck] Merfolk

    Happy to read your list.

I am particularly curious about the sideboard.

How is the matchup with show and tell decks (sneak, omni, etc)?

Regarding Elves Dredge and reanimator, My tempo...

The very Aggro version seems to be the most reliable one at the moment so I would suggest you to go forward with that list :)
