Re: [Deck] TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I don't want to sidetrack this thread too much because U is better than R, but it seems Burning Wish seems like it deserves consideration. Even if only a 1 or 2 of, it gives you an out vs Ensnaring...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Skill Borrower and Griselbrand don't make great friends. You only get a single draw 7 out of the trick.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

We can dream of a black version of Merchant Scroll, but for now, the closest thing to an LDV that draws is Peer Through Depths. It's been suggested and rejected as inferior many pages back, but feel...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Ok, I run a near-standard list. For context (I'm not really looking for a debate here), my off-consensus choices are 4x GV, 0x Reanimate, 3x Griz, 1x Careful Study, 8x protection. I think I'm the...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I can say that until we find an Entomb effect #5+ that costs less than 3, I too am sticking with 3 Griz in the MD (along with Thoughtseize, Cabal Therapy, and just 1 Careful Study). However,...

    @ Anthropoid

I think you'll miss the shuffle effects of fetch lands too much. Within a budget, try:
    1x Swamp
    1x Island
    1x Watery Grave
    1x Godless Shrine
    6x fetch
    4x Gemstone Mine

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Just wanted to share a couple epic escapes from a recent local tourney.
In a G2 vs OmniTell, we both played the waiting game. He was afraid to drop a S&T without the Omniscience and I was afraid...

Keep in mind, on the down side, he also makes Shallow Grave worse. Now a bolt can mess up your intended rez plan when the Researcher is in play.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Thanks, Koby! Ya just had to make the Finals, huh? Put the Sabre-Tooth back in the bag.
    Yeah, that's not happening.
Oh well. I just wanted to advocate for trying to add to the pre-combo...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Can we revisit the kill condition for a bit? Seems like the thread has settled on the 4-slot kill: 1 ToA, 1 Emmy, 2 CoK. Wess made the case for the 3-slot kill: 2 CoK, 1 LabMan back on post #133,...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

First off, all the finishers are equally fast, because the speed of the deck in TinFins is dependent on getting Gris out. After that, it's a matter of avoiding fizzles and a few hosers that your...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

So, I know TinFins and NLR have somewhat different objectives. However, they're much more similar than not. I thought it would be useful to show the core of both to have a more constructive...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Keep in mind that while Jin-G has the obvious vulnerability to removal, it's effect is considerably more than you describe. When you flash him in on your opp's EoT, you get the Mind Twist effect as...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Sorry, Wess. Angel's Grace doesn't do what you want it to. It only protects against damage - not life loss / pay life effects - and you can only pay life you have.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

You'll see the same suggestion on post #71 and just about all lists after that include 1x Emmy (including mine on #84).
I simply wouldn't play this deck without one MD.

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I'm starting to think Pact of Negation deserves some consideration. Most storm decks don't run it usually because it doesn't play well with LED; but we don't have to worry about that.
    There's too...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Maybe it's because I only play 2 ToA's, but I find that my (goldfish) kill is about 50/50 between ToA and Emmy. I'm assuming I get to draw 14 pre-combat if I go off T3 or earlier, but I realize that...

FWIW, here's what I'm testing now:

    1 Island
    4 Misty Rainforest
    4 Polluted Delta
    2 Swamp
    3 Underground Sea
    1 Emrakul, the Aeons Torn
    2 Griselbrand
    4 Lotus Petal

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I'm still catching up on taking this deck thru it's paces. For ex, I finally proved to myself that Mox is good (at least 2, prob 3) and that I like 1x Emmy MD. I desperately want more protection...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

Yup, Cabal Therapy can also target yourself as an additional way to get Gris in the 'yard in a pinch.

I just realized that Burnt Offering is even better than my 1st suggestion. Might still get...

Re: TinFins 3: Return of the Onion Burst

I'm way late to the party here, but I saw throughout the thread that the deck can sometimes fizzle on mana post Gris and LED is too all in.
I didn't see anyone mention Culling the Weak. With Gris...
