    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

D&T won a local Eternal Weekend Trial yesterday with 15 players.

I was playing Maverick and he beat me down with a Brightling I couldn't answer (especially once he got a SoWaP on it and I drew...

    Re: [Deck] Death and Taxes

Happened in US yesterday as well. $6 in the morning, $16-$20 in the evening. I'm sure it'll settle down around $10 or $12...or at least I hope.

She's good, although I don't know if I want more...

Exile the Academy Rector with the exile trigger on the stack. Surgical Extraction works, Faerie Macabre works, Rest in Peace shuts it all down (and I think even shuts down Veteran Explorer too but...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

I still run two Recruiter maindeck and am usually happy to see him (uh...her), particularly when games go long.

I do find I typically side him out in fast combo matchups though; even though he...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

I didn't see anything too unusual about it, I think it was fairly standard. He had a 1/1 split of Packmaster and Nissa and I did see one Elvish Mystic, but nothing else stood out as unusual. I only...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

Played a win-a-Mox in Atlanta yesterday and ended up 4-3, but had some pretty sweet plays I was quite proud of.

    Maindeck (60)
    4 Mother of Runes
    3 Phyrexian Revoker
    4 Stoneforge Mystic
    4...

Tidehollow Sculler can't be pitched because it's an artifact. Chrome Mox requires non-artifact.

iatee - your third match against Miracles was heartbreaking to watch. I was rooting for you so hard (and from my understanding, so was the chat!).

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

Playing against a competent player with Czech Pile feels hopeless. Grixis is also pretty hard.

As for the Vial vs. Daze debate, I always run out a Vial turn 1 whether they have countermagic or...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

Even without fetchlands, we have so many targets for Stifle (SFM, Vial, ETB triggers) that I don't think it's too much of a worry. You have so many different things to be doing that them holding up...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

Most decks trying the GW taxes tend to lean in a nearly Maverick-like direction anyways. Maverick does its own hatebears game pretty well.

Food Chain is a mana ability. Revoker shuts it off, Needle doesn't. They both can shut down Ballista, though.

Game 3 was heartbreaking, but watching him take care of Emrakul on game 2 was awesome.

It was a live stream. It'll probably be on YouTube later this week, though. It's the SCG Worcester Legacy Open.

Went 5-4 at SCG Worcester today, exact same list I played last week (link here). Started off 4-0 and then lost 4 of my next 5. Ugh.

I find Gideon (and to a lesser extent Elspeth) great in the mirror. Breaks board stalls and provides advantage by constantly pumping tokens. Council's Judgment is the only thing that can remove it,...

    Re: [DTB] Death and Taxes

I played in a 12 person GPT yesterday. 4 of us played D&T, and 3 of us got into the Top 4; 2 of us were running SOWAP and it was an absolute beast.

Other decks were RUG/UR Delver, BG Depths, and...

I would keep SoWaP in against BUG. Doesn't offer protection, but the lifegain (and additional drain) can help you race, or at the very least keep up.

That's an upside, but it's also extremely likely your opponent bounces her with their own Karakas and you can't block at all. Chances are you are both running 3x Karakas.

THC can be amazing when dropped early, but in D&T she's underwhelming the majority of the time. Decks like Maverick or the Thalia/Soldier Stompy decks that can get her out T2 or sometimes even T1...
