Hasn't played enough miracles.
I'd be happy on Big Eldrazi vs most of those. Death and Taxes would incline me to run Ballistae in some number, would want to be on Spyglass main over 3Ball.
They work well together in my experience; metalworker pays for bridge and dumps the hand, also grants enough mana to Inventors' Fair a bridge+dump it. With 4 Fair and 4 Metalworker it's not unlike...
Aside from the fact that anyone can play Null Rod; you do what any good aggro deck does and beat them to death. Also DnT isn't likely to play Null Rod, far more likely to come out of a Delver deck...
We're talking about the version with artifact ramp, correct? Blood Moon is very mediocre compared to BTB in this instance, or From the Ashes + Null Rod if you really wanted to put the screws on.
My wife thinks goblins are cute, especially with their flavor text.
Sounds like they should ban Delver, TNN and Griselbrand etc.
In general I wouldn't be too excited bringing in NO vs Sneak Show in the first place, too much countermagic.
Elderscale Wurm seems like a solid NO target against Lands, Eldrazi etc.
Is the sneak/show matchup awful? Would it be worthwhile bringing in some Karakas for that + lands?
Was thinking of the...
This has been on my mind this week; on one hand hitting wasteland is nice, on the other there are no DRS' to hit anymore. If you expect a goodly amount of DNT and Lands I'd run Spyglass, otherwise I...
Because he wants to reinstate a red counterspell engine and ban the blue one, least thats how I read it (ban Counterbalance, unban Top).
Modern can be a real **** format for playing "fair dudes and removal". Really only Standard/Limited cater to such an approach.
I think the desire is to play "super-powered fair dudes and...
They were banned for different reasons there than for legacy; in legacy, the primary motivator for the ban was its utility in a specific deck, namely miracles, which happens to be a deck that...
Sure, it does a lot of damage at parity. Problem is that most of the better decks are very good at getting (and staying) ahead on board, ie DRS + Strix, which has lead to a lot of my games feeling...
Sensei's Top, miracles loses a disproportionate amount of power and consistency from a brainstorm ban (as compared to other blue decks). Card was fine outside of the miracles shell.
Ghost Quarter sets the deck back on mana for no effect vs most of the legacy meta, in a deck loaded with 3 and 4 drops; by the time it's worth activating our opponent should have scarier things to...
Even better, if you sacrifice a clue to smokestack Tireless Tracker gets the +1/+1 counter

Last night I played the list I posted earlier at FNM. Went 3-1, beating Esper...
Did you know that Insectile Aberration is a human???
3 Volcanic Island
3 Tundra
4 Flooded Strand
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Wasteland
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Delver of Secrets
At that point I think the deck is just Stompy/Sylvan Plug. I've wanted to make something like that though, like:
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
8 Forest
3 Foothills
1 Dryad Arbor
4...
Thinking of testing this vs 4C Pile this coming Friday:
4 Wasteland
4 Rishadan Port
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors
3 Inventors' Fair
3 Buried Ruin
1 Dunes of the Dead
1 Mishra's Factory
They were good about explaining their logic with the previous B&R announcements, disappointed with the lack of thoughts with this one.
The Kroog guy plays well with having Monolith and Key in the same deck, seems like some kind of big MUD aggro deck would be a good place for it.
Well then you're just exploring old ground; was tinkering a bit, ended up with this, seems like fun.
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Ramunap Excavator
1 Qasali Pridemage
4 Knight of the Reliquary
4...
First thought: Knight is going to rot in hand a lot. However, some GSZ with a ramunap and maybe scooze to boot (plus friends post-board) alleviates this issue quite a bit.
Cascade into Restore Balance, phase out? Very mana intensive unfortunately.
ED: As Foretold helps. Still not sure if interaction is good.
