    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I have been looking at a list pretty similar to yours of late, any consideration to grim monolith in the list for easier to hit karn? Also, I notice you aren't running any welder, just don't like it...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I don't know if it i just me, but DnT has been a horrible matchup for my UR version with Karn and Tezz the seeker. I haven't totally updated the sideboard yet in response to the bannings, so i may...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    Played a new list yesterday at a 40ish person tournament, had to drop after round 5 for family stuff, but went 3-2 and was pretty happy with the list.

    //Combo
    4 Painter's Servant
    4 Grindstone

    Damping sphere is interesting to me too, though the shell feels like it would need to change also.

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    My current untested list (not grixis) is:

    //Combo
    4 Painter's Servant
    4 Grindstone
    1 Tormod's Crypt

    //Protection
    4 Force of Will
    3 Goblin Welder

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    For those that tested Whir of Invention, what was the result, I think the card has promise, but it does seem like it constrains you mana wise on number of non blue lands. I don't know if you want to...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    Yeah i mean so far so good. My real worry is what happens post board when opponents have surgical, as that is a bit harder of a card for us to beat, especially if we are on the intuition plan.

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    So I started testing this with an old list again, and so far it has been pretty great. I had been playing iPainter for awhile, but it suffers far more from the loss of SDT then this deck does. ...

    THe reason for not playing ponder used to just be room and that with an ancient tomb and non-fetch heavy mana base it was better to be casting tutors than ponders. I don't know if the new versions...

    Saw this list in 18th place at the SCG legacy this weekend.

    4 Goblin Welder
    4 Painter's Servant

    //Planeswalkers
    2 Dack Fayden

    I am playing a slightly modified version of the white sideboard list from the previous page, and so far testing has been awesome, it answers a lot of questions from previous builds, makes a ton of...

    Oh man the mentor sideboard seems sweet, nice idea!

    You said you felt like intuition felt less awesome than transmute, did that make welder seem less good? I feel like most of welder's power...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I didn't think that list was necessarily the best list at the moment, just wanted to point out that the idea seems to be viable atm. I think our older lists are probably still better/more tweaked. ...

    Did anyone see the above? Apparently UR painter (similar to Caleb Durward's old builds) top 4d the Legacy challenge last weekend online. Seems well...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I wish we had access to some more durable threats, I was thinking about Ghirapur Aether Grid, but I am worried that is too slow, but something that is immune to 1) Pyroblast and 2) creature kill...

    What is your plan for that match up? I really don't remember this matchup being all the terrible, but that might have been due to less competent pilots of Miracles.

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I feel like trying to just bust through typically is better, we have a bunch of counters to get our welder in under their CB and once that is in play it does work. Also, spellskite has always been...

    I have been thinking about this deck a lot again. It does seem not terribly positioned, but to my mind the biggest issue is finding a way to interact with miracles, as they do have enough removal to...

    When i tried the black splash out in the past, I found it was too slow, but it is possible the format is slower. It definitely made the matchup with various flavors of delver better, though i was...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    Sad, just as we get some interest in a new build, Dig through time goes bye bye. In other news, old school UR painter, (see my list above) is still playing out fine. I like it.

    It might be...

    Ish,

    Good to see you again. Yeah my last list before my hiatus was a 3 dack list, but I just found that it moved me toward a more slow and controlling build, which isn't necessarily wrong, but...

    Svyelunite Temple is sort of interesting, but in general a "fast" transmute is a relative term, and it involves getting a Grim monolith into play, but unless you are fetching up batterskull, it still...

    So I began testing my list last night. I appreciate the advice, and it is possible that Dig is better than intuition or transmute in this deck, but it would require a massive retooling (probably to...

    Re: [Deck] Painter-Stone

    I like that you are still trying to innovate with the list. I like it a lot more with abrupt decay on the down turn that was definitely the hardest card for this deck to deal with.

    That being...
