  1. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Just got done at the monthly IWMC tournament nearby Denver. Played the following:

    4 Delver of Secrets
    4 Kird Ape
    4 Tarmogoyf

    4 Brainstorm
    4 Stifle
    4 Daze
    4 Force of Will

    I hear you, bruh. Nonetheless...

  3. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Is this when we start to implement our own DTTs?

Maybe cutting Nimble Mongoose and Stifle (or some numbers Spell Pierce/Forked Bolt) for 4 Kird Ape and 3-4 DTT?

Then DTT gets banned a week...
  4. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I switched to 4 Forked Bolt/2 Spell Pierce (A FB variation on the 8Bolt list) when I saw the first SCG after the banning of Treasure Cruise had 11 Elves and 9 D&T decks in day 2 (by far the two...
  5. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I got to play some competitive magic for the first time in a year!

Played at a Mr. Nice Guy's tournament (Monroeville, PA) this past weekend. 24 players, 5 rounds, cut to top 8.

    List included...
  6. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Wow, BK! Thanks for the information and testing. Very solid post.

8 Bolt list with 2 Vapor Snag. 3 Spell Pierce in the Sideboard. I like it.

3 Mind Harness in place of Submerge. I like that, too.
  8. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

This is probably true, but, comparatively, one might argue Canadian's skill cap is higher than many other Legacy decks. I think that was what Contract was suggesting.

    But I don't know if that's...
  9. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    TCDecks.net

There was a good string of top8s in the SCGs, but there are a lot of other tournaments to consider. For instance, there were 0 Canadian in the most recent BoM, which was instead...
  10. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

That's about right. I'm currently trying:

    4 Delver
    4 Nimble
    3 TNN

    4 Brainstorm
    4 Stifle
    4 Daze
    4 Force of Will
  11. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Guys, Dismember is so good, and it's been played to plenty of top8 and first place finishes. Stephen Mann played 2 copies to 1st out of >300 people at SCG Atlanta...with 2 G. Probe as well!

    It is,...
  12. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

One of the reasons Dismember is so good is, as BedDecks mentions, it turns Trops into a mana source for removal. It's also instant speed, and is the only removal we have to get rid of <3 toughness....
  13. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

This really is a dilemma: it would seem Grim is better against decks with lots of must-answer threats that appear one at a time, or against an opponent who is holding off and not overcommitting to...
  14. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

When Canadian first resurged after the banning of Mental Misstep and the release of Delver of Secrets, lists ran 4x Grim Lavamancer instead of 4x Nimble Mongoose.

These lists also played the full...
  15. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    Stick to your story, man!

Just kidding. I understand. Daze isn't the most important aspect of your previously posted hand. AD, Lili, and Tarm is. So what is your suggestion for methods to beat...
  16. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

This is fairly accurate, yes, except I would not say, "It's only good in the early game", but, rather, "It's better in the early game". And I'd think that, considering your approach to Canadian, in...

Thanks for the input. I really like your read on the current discussion. You bring up two points that I'd like to address:

  19. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    @ Bed Decks

If you like it and it continues to perform well for you, you should definitely continue to play the traditional 12 creature configuration. It was almost unanimously represented in the...
  20. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    That would be fine!

I should mention: I don't think any decklist right now is necessarily more "Right" or "Wrong". There are a lot of different factors to take into account when considering the...
  21. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    Thanks, guys.

I don't want to buy them, either. I'm thinking of trading a couple Plateau from when I played Zoo.

But do you still think it (TNN) might get banned? It's not as ubiquitous as...
  22. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

If anybody takes the time to read this, thank you.

Canadian Threshold is, at its core, a Mono Blue deck, and it splashes two colors for two very unique purposes: Green for Creatures, and Red...
  23. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

    @BKClassic

Thanks for posting that list. I might cut the Chains for something else, but it looks like a refined and tested version of what I'd been thinking.
  24. Re: [DTB] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

We'll stay RUG because we still want Nimble Mongoose. And by cutting Tarm for more blue spells and creatures (this seems the most likely route), we are, in fact, strengthening the mana base.

    @ BDP:

A quick few responses to your last post, and then I won't defend Raze any further.

Briefly: I do think Raze would help our primary gameplan in the way you suggest Crop Rotation does help...
