    Re: [Deck] Zoo

Hidden Herd seems interesting, but can you explain why this is main deck? If you don't draw it on the first two turns, it's completely a dead draw vs. RUG Delver. What match up is Hidden Herd better...
  2. Re: [Article] So Many Insane Plays – The Legacy Doomsday Device Primer

But thats the thing with Doomsday... You can make your pile whatever it needs to be for you to win.

While there might be a default pile that wins through your opponent not interacting with you at...

    Re: SCG Sacramento Top 16

They corrected this in the interview with him at the end of the night. He tested rancor but it didn't work out, so he changed it to spectral flight.

And unstable mutation is better than rancor,...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I'm not sure Primal Hunter and Batterskull compete for the same slot. They both provide the deck reach, but under different situations.

I played Primal Hunter last week and drew 7 cards off him...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I'm not talking about magical christmas land, it's possible I didn't make my point clearly.

If you GSZ for Knight. He can't do anything until the next turn. If you decide to make use of his...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

If you have enough mana to GSZ for a six drop, what green six drop is better than a 6/6 (if at some point you fetched a basic swamp) or 7/7 (if you didn't) creature with hexproof?

    Not to mention...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I played a small event at a local store today with the following build

    4 cabal therapy
    3 hymn
    1 inquisition of kozilek
    3 maelstrom pulse
    2 innocent blood
    4 green suns zenith

    3 pernicious...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

What lists don't have anything worthwhile to GSZ for? It seems pretty standard to run Dryad Arbor, Explorer, Thrun, Witness, Ooze, and something to kill an artifact. That alone gives you a ton of...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

What matchups do you feel Elspeth and Sorin are an upgrade over running Hymn or some 1 mana Discard spells, or even targeted removal?

And would improving those matchups make it worth opening...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

He's certainly good, but the snapcaster/clique decks tend to have infinite one mana exile spells or lightning bolts depending on their splash color. So I can't imagine he stays on the board the two...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

Being able to reliably get Explorer is definitely a big reason for GSZ. But I think it depends on what creatures you put into your deck.

I like it for grabbing acidic slime, dungrove elder,...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I think Inquisition Of Kozilek is a fine replacement for Hymn if you're worried about making BB in your first two turns.

But do you ever struggle with your mana base? Only 20 lands seems low in a...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

Is there a reason it needs to be 5 mana? Because honestly adding another Scavenging Ooze (I hope you're playing at least one!) to your deck will probably improve more matchups then adding a 5 mana...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I totally agree with your first statement. More so than other decks we need to protect our mana early. It's also important to not walk Veteran Explorer into Swords to Plowshares.

    I'm a little...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I'm not playing Deranged Hermit. I don't understand what match-up he's supposed to be good in. He seems like a hail mary that is really easy for a lot of decks to keep under control. Aggro decks...

Re: [DTB] Nic Fit (GBW Explorer Zenith Control)

I played the G/B version of this deck at a small tournament today. I tried Dungrove Elder in the main deck and I wasn't disappointed. He reached 8 power a few times during the tournament, just in the...

    Re: [DTB] Zoo

For the people who always ask about playing Zoo without Goyf, here's a list that I got 3rd with at the San Diego Games and Comics tournament.

The only thing I'd change is losing the Stoneforge...
  20. Re: Delver of Secrets Canadian Thresh Top 8 at San Diego Games & Comics 42 man Report

I asked about the split, but the other two guys had already started playing so no split. I guess the top 2 did split and then played out for the Underground sea.
  21. Re: Delver of Secrets Canadian Thresh Top 8 at San Diego Games & Comics 42 man Report

Haha, yeah that Deed was brutal. It's hard to play around Deed vs your deck because if I keep cards in my hand they just get discarded. I'm glad you did well too.

Was anyone else playing Zoo? I...

I'm Chris, the Zoo player you played in the top 8. I definitely agree with you on the prize distribution being a little whack. I finished 3rd and had a choice between a foil card worth $60 and a foil...
