  1. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Thank you, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'm glad stifle tempo lists are still a competitive choice, I've always preferred their nimble, synergystic approach to midrange playing daze and...
  2. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I've been away from magic a few weeks, and it seems like the cutting edge RUG decklists are shifting at an unprecedented pace... The deck has gone a more grindy/midrange direction with the printing...
  3. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Between the two, I would probably choose library because it grows goyf, although I think neither is necessary in the current meta (not enough uw control).

If you're playing arcanist (you should)...
  4. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Mostly as a 1 or 2 of in the side, along with karakas and sometimes bojuka big. Some have tried it main though, not sure that makes sense, since the silver bullet lands are still in the side
  5. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

The consensus is pretty much not to play stifle anymore. It doesn't fit with the new cards and style of the deck (which is much more powerful than before). Stifle might get you some free wins...
  6. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

I am of the idea that if you're playing a tempo deck as focused as this, stifle is a necessity. Sometimes it will be devastating, sometimes it will be mediocre or awkward, but that's just the nature...
  7. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Yes well, those SB cards are in addition to Mongoose. As a tempo deck, we still need another 1-drop, and bomat courier is no substitute imo.

As for compost, with black decks moving away from green...
  8. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

This is a lot more debatable. Sure Strix can get walled by opposing creatures, but shroud is still REALLY good against a number of decks other than Miracles, including Grixis control. You can often...
  9. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Dies to ubiquitous and cheap removal, while also lining up poorly against a lot of commonly played creatures (Angler, Strix, Shadow) sounds like a pretty good reason not to play a creature. What's a...

    Re: [Primer] BRx Griselbrand Reanimator

I was checking TC decks in an attempt to update my pre-ban list, and I noticed a lot of people are running md Cabal Therapy over Thoughtseize now (or a split). Is there a specific reason for it? I...
  11. Re: [Deck] Canadian Threshold (aka RUG Delver, Tempo Thresh)

Tarmogoyf has to go: there's simply too many fatal pushes flying around, AND it also regularly gets outsized by Anglers/Shadows. You can try to swap them for 2 Mandrills, but the dyssynergy with...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

I do keep all my dazes on the draw against Storm and tempo. As cave said, you always want 4 against unfair decks, and cheap interaction is critical in tempo mirrors. Not to mention, daze can be used...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

    1) Cutting some number of Dazes on the draw in certain matchups is definitely a valid strategy, but you should ALWAYS run the full playset when on the play. EDIT: I still keep mine on the draw in...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

What do you guys think of Noah Walker's GP Seattle manabase with only 7 fetchlands in favor of the 3rd Volcanic Island? A friend of mine had suggested the idea last week and I initially dismissed it...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

Yes. Side out your Fows and Probes, bring in additional burn, blast effects, and Flusterstorms. Try to always have an answer for a t1 Deathrite Shaman and play the denial/tempo game. The stifle list...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

Whenever I read this argument, all I see is "stifle is an absolute necessity in Canadian threshold since that deck is inexcusably underpowered by today's standards, whereas it is merely an option in...

Cool list. Not playing True Name Nemesis is wrong, though.

Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo

I also thought of Leovold, but bouncing it doesn't seem like the best plan, since you're not guaranteed to go off before they can replay it is you have a handful of cantrips. Decay just seems like a...

Re: [Deck] ANT (Ad Nauseam Tendrils) Storm Combo

Just a couple of question from someone who's trying to learn the deck:

Karakas: I assume you play this against DnT/Maverick/Aggro Loam to bounce Thalia/Teeg, and against Sneak and Show. Is it...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

See, I really want to side out all of my Gitaxian Probes and Forces in the mirror, and I actually struggle finding 7 boardable cards in the board. I only like keeping a couple of Forces in if I'm...

Not that anyone's playing that deck anymore, but it should also be pretty good against Miracles, and against other fringe decks like Pox, Stax, etc. Regardless, it looks like 4c control is quickly...

    Re: [DTB] Grixis Tempo

I have to second that. Czech Pile style decks are the main reason why I've made the move to the Stifle version of Grixis Delver, and I haven't looked back since. So far, I've gone 3-0 against them on...
