Its an option to trim on the Stoneforge Package to fit in 2-3 Knight of the Reliquary, if you don't want to rely too heavily on Equipment for board control reasons. Tireless Tracker would be another...
Equipment on the other hand solves board stalls or controls the board. I would rather have an Umezawa's Jitte vs. Pyromancer or Sword of Fire and Ice vs. TNN than a Knight of the Reliquary which I...
On the other hand Aether Vial and some Wayfarer activations for card advantage may be the trump vs. Miracles alongside Karakas + Thalia and Stoneforge Mystic. Multiple tutorable Wastelands seem to be...
@Seraphix' Punishing Fire List (Starcitygames Open): I really like your list, it looks like a streamlined, straightforward Punishing Maverick list without too much cute things. Still I have some...
Lol, you meant Liliana of the Veil. I was thinking you're on Leyline of the Void
Not sure what I should think about Liliana, Maverick neither plays cards which synergizes with the discard...
I'm still playing 1 Bird and 4 Deathrite Shaman along 2 Bayous and 1 Scrubland as black producing lands (2 savannahs, 1 forest, 1 plains, 7 fetchlands).
What's your reasoning for LotV? I'm curious...
Vs. Shardless Bug I try to get a fast Scavenging Ooze or Knight of the Reliquary, protected by Mother of Runes. Keep in mind that an uncracked fetchland makes Liliana of the Veil a lot less scarier....
I'm not saying that Sylvan Library gets cut for a Courser, sorry if my post is misleading regarding that. I'm saying that other cards should be considered first.
On the other hand I saw lists...
Ok, Courser has some uses, but I really don't think he is good enough. Like apple713 stated, there are better cards to play. Our creatures are divided into acceleration, disruption and threats...
@sdematt:
Please tell me more about the Courser of Kruphix :) I'm still not convinced playing that guy, maybe I'm missing something :S
BBD plays this list:
http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=87967
vs.
http://sales.starcitygames.com/deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=68903
BDD loses 1:4
I think Needle is great, I'm playing 2 in my SB at the moment.
I'm boarding it vs:
Miracles (SDT, Jace)
Shardless Sultai (Liliana, Jace, sometimes Deathrite)
Jund (Liliana, sometimes...
@sdmatt: List looks fine to me, not sure about the Scryb Ranger, I cutted it long ago, but I think this is personal preference. I think Sylvan Safekeeper is not that necessary in Abzan Maverick...
That's my plan, works for me so far.
@Straight G/W Maverick: I would go heavy on Equipment (3 Stoneforge, 3 Swords) because you lack the black sweepers against tokens and play a couple of...
Without access to duals I would play straight GW. Though Red and Black add strong cards to the Maverick deck, I think GW is still a viable option.
I feel honored for taking my list as a reference :)
I agree on DD/Stage-Combo, it's slow, unstable and costs important slots which I don't want to fill with cards that will increase bad opening...
Went to a local tournament (26 players, 5 rounds and Top 8 Playoff) made 4th place, getting around 60€ in card prices.
My list:
//Länder
4 Windswept Heath
3 Verdant Catacombs
2 Savannah
2...
List looks fairly standard, but on a closer look there are some things I think you have to change.
Most important:
- Fetchland configuration: If you're playing BGW always play 4 Windswept Heath...
I really would try out the Ethersworn Canonists instead of Thalia. Canonist matches better with Punishing Fire, hates on Omnitell and ANT and helps for some extent against Young Pyromancer and...
Isn't Thalia an issue with Punishing Fire? The non-synergy is the main reason I stopped playing Punishing Fire in favor of a built with 4 Wasteland + 4 Thalias.
Also with Loam I'm always...
That's the reason why I play the bird, it also taps for black mana (without needing the graveyard), which is important sometimes. It paid off so far :)
My sideboard is mostly geared towards combo, a part of it adresses control/midrange strategies and the sweepers happen to be good vs. a variety of decks (D&T, Elves, TNN, Tokens, ...). I round it out...
Duress is a legitimate choice for sure, especially in a metagame with a bunch of Burn (other SB-Cards are still better there). But I had some situations where it mattered to have Thoughtseize ready...
Megadeus brought another example where Thoughtseize is better. It's a lucky draw from your opponent but it's your fault if you play cards that won't win in this situation over cards that would have...
Sometimes you get the chance to mess up their Brainstorm they played in response to your discard spell, when you let them discard a Emrakul they left in hand, the other two cards they wanted to...
