    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Try out two Tabernacles and see if that makes the matchup better for you. BUG Delver doesn't run very many lands, so Tabernacle plus Wasteland is crippling more often than not.

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

I would cut Manabond before Exploration, but I don't know your exact list. I found one by you on Page 116, so I'm basing my advice on that. I probably would board out O. Stone because BUG Delver...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

BUG Delver usually doesn't run any basic lands or Stifle, so Wasteland lock is easy to achieve. The game plan should be Wasteland lock plus an early Tabernacle and/or multiple Mazes to buy you time...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Ports are generally considered an auto-include. Their ability to cut off basic lands is key to the mana-denial strategy. That said, I have experience with Port-less configurations, although the...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

If you play Enlightened Tutor, you could run Circle of Protection: Red. I wouldn't recommend this for a large event, but if you know your local event has Burn players, then there's no better hoser. ...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Not that good. You can't drop it in with a Show and Tell, and I assume you're going to be tying up some mana with your Ports and holding up Spell Pierce mana if you have it. I would go with Pithing...

@Anen: If you want your creatures to be Plow-proof, don't play Sphinx. It doesn't have protection from white.

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

I love outside-the-box ideas like this. Do what works for you, then report your results. Those of you who don't want to try it, fine. A very real liability with this deck is its need to consume...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Ah, excellent. I've had experience with adjusting sunburst and CMC to beat Counterbalance, but I've never run into that particular situation, so I wasn't even thinking of colorless mana. Makes...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

There were 36 lands in the deck. Still unlikely to whiff, but statistically a lot more likely than 42 lands.

Bobby Kovacs takes down Elves in the finals of an unusual Open. Excellent performance! Everybody in this thread should watch replays of his games. And try to ignore goofball Patrick Chapin.

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

I have in the past. The Mazes are great for defense, but you really don't want them to park a Batterskull in front of a Jace. (Factories are good vs. planeswalkers as long as they don't have a...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Maverick usually doesn't play Armageddon. Also, splashing black for Extirpate and red for Punishing Fire is really loose for that deck. Then again, you were basically in the 0-3 bracket of a small...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

@ Anen: I run a similar build and am using Duress and Inquisition of Kozilek out of the sideboard to fight combo decks. It's pretty strong when used alongside Extirpate or Surgical Extraction or...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Leyline of the Void is really strong when you can protect it with counters. There's simply higher risk involved when you can't hardcast it. This is also why Krosan Grip is in Lands' board. Trygon...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Of course, if you are short on mana, regardless of how many lands you have in play, you aren't going to get to that stage as quickly, and maybe you won't get there at all. So, in other words, you...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

Urborg, like Riftstone Portal, is an underappreciated card. Lands requires a lot of mana each turn if you're locking someone down with Ports and replaying Loam and cycling, or if you're activating...

As far as I know, that doesn't work. They're still basic lands; they just can produce black mana now.

Judging by your report, you went 3-1-1, then lost in Top 4.

I don't know what the rest of the board looked like, but you're probably pretty fortunate your Round 5 opponent scooped to you with an...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

In that case, you either should play a different deck or you should adapt your board to beat it. Extirpate is quite the card in this situation, although you'd have to commit your manabase to black. ...

    Re: [Deck] 43 Lands

No. Why waste slots like that? Do you have any way to tutor for them? If not, are you going to mull to them? Think this through.
