    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

Has anyone actually tested Excavator yet? I got the promo at FNM on Friday, but haven't done any actual testing (and very little brewing).

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I'm glad that someone is interested in this approach.

While I'm only a handful of matches into my own testing (~15 over the past week), I have been able to come to some reasonable preliminary...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I've been toying around with a new list that looks a lot more like apocalyps6's than Kronberger's. It's more proactive and eschews Liliana and Bob for more on-board power and consistency. I'm pretty...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

Congrats on your finish! I agree that Deathrite is sort of a trap, and that Garruk is kind of underwhelming. I like having a threat that can be cast off of basic Forest against Blood Moon decks and...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I get where you're coming from with this, I'm actually trying to think of ways to increase consistency as well. The alternative to cutting the GSZ package is likely to cut the Bobs for a source of...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

The downside to that approach is that you're giving up 3 virtual copies of Gaddock Teeg (this is mostly an issue if you expect an uptick in Storm combo, though he's ok-to-good in other matchups) and...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

It's good in any non-combo matchup, especially ones where chump blockers are relevant or where you want a source of card advantage that doesn't rely on the graveyard. It's also got great synergy with...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I think he's thinking of the basic Forest and forgetting about the Moxen.

I've thought about Thrun before, maybe I'll give him another look. As it currently stands, I'm looking for the last...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

It seems like a decent list. I've run 25 lands in the past and it's fine, though you end up mulliganing because you have dead Mox Diamond hands a bit more often. I've actually been testing an...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

30 games/10 matches is about where you start seeing representative results. It takes a long time to meaningfully fill the sheet in for more than a handful of decks.

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I kept a spreadsheet when I was playing a lot of Loam (6 mo-1 year ago) and I got between 50 and 55%. It was a lot higher when the deck was new and people didn't know what was going on, but once...

I like Ghost Quarter so much I maindeck it. I can't think of many matchups where it's even particularly bad.

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I'm certain that the deck wants the first Crucible before the fourth Loam. I'm not sure if the third Loam or first Crucible is better, nor am sure that either is better than a second Deluge, first...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I'm not that concerned about it getting Decayed. Land recursion is one of the deck's tools, but it's not the whole game plan. If you get even one land back with Crucible you've 2-for-1'ed your...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

That's possibly correct. I was leaning toward bringing a TNN or Landstill BUG list to FNM this week, but I've been considering another Loam for a while (I don't run the combo) and maybe it's time to...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I've played Command for a long time and have been very happy with it.

EDIT: Has anyone tried Tireless Tracker at all? I'm tempted to try it, but I don't know what to cut. Sylvan Library and/or...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

Totally unknown? Probably Chalice - Confidant is better in most fair matchups right now so Chalice is a better check for a counters, and the earlier Chalice comes down the better it is.

I don't like Choke much either. I've liked Ob Nixilis Reignited amd Xenagos, the Reveler as my third planeswalkers for grindy matchups, but I'm not sure any of those are better than just another...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

Thank you. I've been trying to figure out what to cut the Deathrite for, and Swamp makes a lot of sense. I might cut a Heath for a Marsh Flats, but maybe that's wrong. I still prefer Maelstrom Pulse...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

Probably? I don't think Master is what we want as a GSZ target (I prefer Kolaghan's Command as a generic fair matchup value play and Meren or Glissa, the Traitor as GSZ value cards), but I defintely...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I ran Cabal Pit a while back and found it just too hard to get Threshold quickly enough to matter. The pain wasn't an issue, though.

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I agree that D&T tends to be a pretty good matchup, especially with Plows. Delver in general is much harder, and I'd say we're slightly less than 50/50 against Shardless. Sneak and Show and...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

While I don't love the combo since it's hard on the mana and we aren't as good at assembling or defending it as Lands or Turbo Depths, the rest of the deck looks pretty stock. Arlinn Kord doesn't...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I actually think that Liliana is pretty solid against Grixis; they can't typically remove Knight or Scavenging Ooze, so ticking up will eventually run them out of token material, and her ultimate is...

    Re: [Deck] Aggro Loam

I cut the 4th Bob when I first picked the deck up, but I wanted to give Niklas' exact 75 a try. In the future I'll definitely trim on Bob before Sylvan Library.
