[Announcement] ICBM Legacy Open #1: Sunday July 27, 2008 New Berlin, WI

    Sunday July 27, 2008

    Hobbytown USA
    3830 S Moorland Rd
    New Berlin, WI 53151

New Berlin is about 20 minutes southwest of Milwaukee
There are many fast-food restaurants near the store

Registration begins at 12:00 PM and ends at 12:50 PM.
    Tournament begins at 1 PM

Click here to download a deck registration form.

    25/25/25 rule:
    Legacy 25-proxy unsanctioned tournament
$0.25 for each proxy after 25
    $25 CASH entry
All proxies must follow these guidelines

    1st Place = 4 Tarmogoyf AND 4 Polluted Delta
2nd Place = 4 Sea Drake OR 4 Underground Sea
3rd/4th Place = Chinese foil Tendrils of Agony OR 2 Tropical Island
5th-8th place = Plateau OR UL Lich OR Italian Reset
These prizes are GUARANTEED regardless of attendance.

If attendance is over 30 people then prizes will increase. I have plenty of blue duals, Forces, fetchlands, and other Legacy staples.

I'm running this because Legacy players have requested it. I generally get 35-45 people at my Vintage tournaments, and I'm hoping to at least hit 25 people with this one. Please come to this tournament to ensure that I run more of these. Hope to see you there!

    Legacy 25-proxy unsanctioned tournament
This is Legacy. Are you sure that's necessary? Looks like Wisconson must be full of players looking to play those Juzam-Stompy decks.

At any rate, hopefully this turns out well.

Hopefully I'll be able to attend, but I may have to work.

Ben, good to see you are getting everyone back in to Legacy up there. Unfortuantely I will be in Spain in Madrid for ELD's massive Vintage tourney that week and this day, specifically.

Everybody else who doesn't play in that area, shut the hell up. That place doesn't run santioned Eternal tournaments, Ben puts these on himself, and he's trying to attract as many people as possible, and to start a Legacy scene. So if it was UNLIMITED proxy, would you really give a damn if the prizes were good, the competition good, and the tournament bigger and better?

Yes I would care, if I lost to someone playing 20 proxy.dec, even if the potential prize payout was great, Id feel ripped off. But hey if it works for you guys up there, good luck getting enough suckers I mean players

Re: ICBM Legacy Open #1: Sunday July 27, 2008 New Berlin, WI Hobbytown $500+ prizes

Anybody who complains about proxies is just being a baby. The point of having proxies is to open the format to any number of players. This way no one can say well if I could afford Imperial recruiters, sea drakes, 8 duals, ect. I wouldve done better.

There is almost no legacy scene in the area so we wanted to make it a very accessible tournament for everyone. If you lose to 20proxy.deck then congrats you are not as good at magic as your opponent, or at least that match you werent. I have the luxury of playing any deck i want to but not everyone can.

I don't have a problem with it either. I can understand doing this to help start a Legacy scene in an area where there is none. Give them a little taste and hope they come back for more.

If only i could travel to the states :(

    Good luck to everyone

Oh and, at first, i thought 25 proxies was too much. Then i realized that it didnt matter. PEople should do 25 proxies vintage tournaments too :) Everyone could play the best deck and we can know who are better

In my opinion 4 or 8 Proxies should do the Job, too - so that the meta is competetive (as everyone can play Forces + Goyfs ) and that people who want to play extraordinary decks (like Imperial Painter) can play those, too.

But anyway, cool Price support. Sadly im living about 5000 miles away

This puppy is next Sunday! Just to make more things interesting, if I get more people for this than I got for ICBM Vintage Open #5 last week, which had 37 players, I will add an ALPHA MOX RUBY to the prize pool, so first would get that, second would get the former prize for first, etc. That would kick us up to about a grand in prizes. Be there. Oh, and Eventide will be legal.

I'm just going to issue a last-minute recommendation to come to this. All I can say is that if you show you'll have a chance to see what are literally some of the pimpest Legacy cards available. It's not something to miss.

yeah, i think 25 proxies is a little superfluous, but anybody that plays well shouldnt care what anybody else has the access to. I woud say that everybody should prepared for expensive decks due to the proxy limit such as 43 land, imperial painter, and the like. I'm pretty gratful for you guys throwing a nice arge tourney in the midwest for us though, so thanks. I'm coming up with 3-4 people from Chicago, so see you guys there.
