GP Madrid: What do you expect? What is the best deck to take?
Team R&D
The decks to beat are going to be: Zoo, Merfolk, Bant Progenitus (and to an extent, all kind of Bant decks), Dregdge and ANT.
There is not such a thing as the best deck to take, but if I had to choose one, I'll say that Progenitus Countertop.
We tried to copy the Source, but then we realized we're spanish
If my post results dumb or offensive, it's probably just me miserably failing at being ironic in a foreign language
Ok, my meta has been taken over by mono-U Dreadstill, Merfolk, Countertop, and Zoo. Ideas on breaking through that? It's getting annoying facing so many Dazes and Forces then hitting Lightning bolts. Makes it hard to choose.
Yeah, Lands.dec looks like a choice I would play there. Just make sure you have enough Zuran Orbs in the SB for the Zoo MU, PoP can be harsh, and also expect Back to Basics postboard against Merfolk, other than this its a nice Meta for Lands.
Again bringing up my request from the previous page, Meta is:
Combo (NLS, Solidarity, Dream Halls)
Zoo
Survival
Aggro Loam
Merfolk
in rough order of appearance, no control, no countertop. I thought maybe Supreme Blue, but then also someone suggested ANT with lots of chant effects.
What's good in a meta that's 50% BG rock?
So far I've had so-so success with Dredge, it's just that sometimes they can hate you out so hard with SB jailers, leylines, etc g2/3
What should I play in a metagame of 30ish people which includes
~3 BG Rock with Natural Order
~5 Monoblue Merfolk
~2 Belchers
~1-2 tendrils
~2 Natural order Counter Top
~2-3 RB goblins
~3 Survival Bant
~1-2 Lands
~2 Landstill
~1 Zoo
What would be the best deck in this metagame?
What would be the best in this list for the metagame ? Canadian Tr-eshold, Natural order Countertop, Bant aggro, Uw Merfolk, U merfolk, Ug Merfolk, Led-less Ichorid.
-Team Laval !-
I think canadian threshold would do very well in that meta.
1)MD Firespout deals with the aggro decks
2)REB make red a tasty choice to one up the other blue based decks.
3)MD Stifles help vs those combos deck
4)PoP is very good against Lands
5)Blood moon may do well enough to warrent a space in the sb.
Haha, that one's actually quite funny.
I played it in my first tourney (canadian thresh was my first "competetive" deck back then) and boarded those in
against the ever-reigning Landstill that time.
I pulled it off to land moon turn3 him having just duals on the board but so did I had just mountains as well.
Managed to burn him down from 18 in about 18 rounds or something.
Funniest game I ever had.
(I do not recommend running blood moons in canadian threshold.)
Team Legal Actions.
i disagree, i had no problem playing blood moons when i played canadian threshold. Fetching basics is even easier with the new lands now. a basic forest and an island is certainly all you need. Fetch appropriately and blood moon can be your best friend :-P
A lot of the cards that you've mentionned are not played in Canadian ******** :S
1) Firespout is not played because it is too mana intensive and it hits your treshed mongoose.
4) PoP hurts you way too much to warrent a sideboard space. The deck runs 6 fetches, 8duals, 4 wasteland
5) Bloodmoon is one of the card that I don't want to see in play, I surely won't put it in my sideboard. Most list don't run basic land because it is suboptimal.
-Team Laval !-
My metagame is lots of fish, some zoo, a couple countertops, and some random decks.
I c h o r i d - my anti blue
Manaless Ichorid- At least its cheeper than standard.
We admit for the sake of the exercise that following is true:
Landstill > Fromat
Non-Basic Hate > Landstill
Basics > Non-Basic Hate
We can therefore logically conlude that
Basics > Format
Hmm. maybe that is my problem. I played Canadian Threshold when swans was in some, now I notice it has its own section in deckcheck as SwansThresh. When I made day 2 at GP chicago I had gotten rid of the swan package, and switched to the more conventional one with stifles. My creature base was predators, goyfs, and q-dryads (nimbles werent testing very well) and a counterbalance package along with 2islands,1forest. I also remember having PoP in the side, can't remember if I had the blood moons as well (they were in swans though)
Oh well. I am sure the deck has evolved since then, so my knowledge may be a bit dated.
I still think a U/g/r colored deck with good cards would do well in that meta :-P
I'm new to legacy, but I have a friend with the cards who's willing to be a sponsor. :-P
The local metagame is a whole lot of red, with burn and goblins both played by multiple people, some zoo, a couple ANT decks, Mono W Staxx, Ichorid, Dream Halls, and a Bant Countertop deck.
I was thinking UB reanimator seems like a fun deck and Iona/Sphinx should handle the mono red decks with relative ease. Does this seems like a good metagame choice to you?
I think it would be pretty good in the meta. The graveyard hate should be pretty minimal (4ish cards) with only one ichorid in there being of concern, doubly so if he is a bad player... unless of course that ichorid player has been dominating there then expect 6-8. W-stax will be a fun matchup for you, that's for sure.
Hey guys, I'm trying to get a feel for a small, but competitive meta back home. I have access to pretty much all of the cards needed for any blue deck in the format. Here are the decks:
The Rock
UB Reanimator
Merfolk
Extended Zoo
43 Land
Team America
I'm thinking Supreme blue would be good, but might canadian thresh also be good? Thanks a lot guys.
Hey yall,
I am trying to decide on what to play in my meta...
I only have three choices currently. Goblins, Crucible Based Poxless pox with fetches/sensei's diving top, and Dredge. (I have the cards for these decks only and currently can't buy much if any more).
There is approximately:
1-2 Merfolk
2-3 Dredge
2-3 ANT
1 Belcher
1 Dreamhalls
1 Golden Grahms/Bomberman combo
1 Life.dec
1-2 Thresh
1-2 Zoo
1 Enchantress
1 Countertop Natural Order
1 stax
3-4 Random jank EDH decks that people play in legacy
Any thoughts :\ ?
TBH, both decks seem pretty bad choices.. I'd choose Dredge though, since there's so much combo, and both Goblins and Dredge can't do anything against those. At least Dredge has a better chance against the rest of the meta than Goblins does, save for maybe Enchantress.
The Source: Your Source for "The Source: Your Source for..." cliche.
Hey Guys,
I am trying to figure out what to do about a deck. I have some legacy cards, but none of the decks I have are really cut out for my meta.
Currently I have Dregde, and Goblins ( No Rishadan ports).
There seems to be too much Combo to run goblins, and too much dredge to run dredge (everyone packs hate for it)
This is approximately my meta:
1-2 Merfolk
3+ Dredge
2-3 ANT
1 Belcher
1 Dreamhalls
1 Golden Grahms/Bomberman combo
1 Life.dec
1-2 Thresh
1-2 Zoo
1 Enchantress
1 Countertop Natural Order
1 stax
3-4 Random jank/EDH
The relevant cards I have for the format (in addition to the decks mentioned above) currently:
4 Chalice
3 crucibles
4 plateaus
1 Bayou
4 StP
4 Cannonist
4 Serra Avenger
4 Vials
4 Wastelands
4 Leyline of the void
7-9 Various fetches (red/black)
4 Grim Lavamancer
4 Price of progress
4 Chain Lightning
4 Unmask
3 Kataki War's wage
3 Tombstalker
3 Sensei's Top
1 Jitte
1 Sword of light and shadow
3 Enlightened Tutor
I have no idea what to play/make...
I really don't have any more money to spend on legacy at the moment, but am hoping to trade some of my cards for a deck that would work in the meta listed above.
I thought about grabbing a taiga or two and trying naya sly, or maybe some kind of white weenie, or white stax, but I am burnt out on my horrible ideas, and would like some advice from people who actually know what they are talking about :D
Any thought dudes? Should I stick to one of the decks I have? Should I trade for something that would work better?
