I think I should play against 4eak.
The usual procedure is:
Quarters:
A) 1-8
B) 2-7
C) 3-6
D) 4-5
Semis:
E) Winner A - Winner D
F) Winner B - Winner C
The reasoning behind this is that the first two after swiss can both get into the finals without having to kick each other out.
But ultimately the pairings are for Magic Fanatic to decide.
I thought that players were reseeded every round.
The remaining player with the best record on the Swiss plays the remaining player with the worst record on the Swiss, etc. It's how the NHL and NFL (I believe) does it.
Either way, the first seed will never play a second seed until the finals.
So:
A) 1v8
B) 2v7
C) 3v6
D) 4v5
If the better seed wins out, then 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3.
If say, the first, second, and fourth seeds win, but the third seed loses to the sixth seed, then the first place player plays the sixth seed (the lowest remaining seed) and then the second seed plays the fourth seed. That's what reseeding is.
I looked it up http://www.starcitygames.com/php/news/article/6650.html, but the guy doesn't explain it.
EDIT: Oh, nevermind, it's clear from the event archives from GP: Chicago, that Wizards does not reseed. Nassif was the fourth seed. He won and played against the 8th seeded Mink (who beat the top seed).
Basically, the one seed will always play the highest seed left if all the low seeds win.
1v8
4v5
3v6
2v7
...
1v4
2v3
edit - nvm, I guess it's hi vs lo on each successive pairing.

1v8 = A
4v5 = B
2v7 = C
3v6 = D
Winner of A v Winner of B = E
Winner of C v Winner of D = F
Finals: Winner of E v Winner of F
In other words: pi4meter plays the winner of The Wes v Pinder and 4eak plays Van Phanel.
The Wes and my match went about like you'd expect. And of course in game 2 I draw Krosan Grip the turn after he uses Elspeth to make Humility indestructable.
2-0 The Wes
edit: And I assume that since we know the next bracket, we can dispense with rounds and just start playing the remaining matches whenever all of the matches in one bracket are done?
