{Legacy} The Source Tournament Sign-Ups

I decided to run a regular Legacy Event first to get an idea of the Meta-Game we are working with before trying to Un/ban.

The event will Start next Monday 9 am CST and each round will last exactly 7 Days

I assume you mean each round lasts 7 days. We should try to play more regular legacy events, and with more stringent restrictions on unintentional draws. Anyway, I'm probably going to drop out of the MTGSal one soon and join this one. List upcoming.

Actually after reading the combo and the cards I am going to say no

Since x is in the casting cost when it is cascaded x=0
Same as if you cascaded a fireball

since the pay x life is directly the effect from the casting cost
x is 0 on the whole card

I mean honestly what judge would ever allow this
the rules easily show that cards that are played via alternate means with x in the casting cost make x zero

Where did you get that DCI-ruling? I really don't buy it. Not blaming you, but just doubting your sources...

Time zones are too much for me to handle during exams. Or for most regular tournaments, anytime. Sorry dudes.

Casting cost: XB

Card text: As an additional cost to play Bond of Agony, pay X life.
Each other player loses X life.

Oracle text: As an additional cost to play Bond of Agony, pay X life.
Each other player loses X life.

Ok this is how I read it,

X in casting cost from Cascade =0

The first line of rules text does not say MAY it says PAY X LIFE
That X is = the X in the (casting cost -1) its just that when you pay the X in the casting cost you HAVE to pay the same in Life.

EACH other player loses X LIFE. This Life is also = to the (casting cost -1)

Anyone who wants to argue this really need to go take 7th grade algebra again X in an equation is not variable depending on where it is if there is an X on one side it is equal to the X on the other side

(X Casting Cost)=(X Life) = (X Life Loss)

There is no way to change this without advanced Calculus and throwing euclidean math out the window where X is different in different spots.

Exactly, Cascade is like Mind's Desire, X=0 on everything buy Shoals.
