    Hellkite Hatchling

    I am having this argument with a buddy and I want to settle this once and for all:

    Does Hellkite Hatchling have 1 ability (Devour 1) or 3 abilities (Devour, Flying, Trample)?

    I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

    You're both wrong. It has four abilities if it devoured a creature, or two otherwise.

    Hint: "Hellkite Hatchling has flying and trample if it devoured a creature." is an ability, and it might give additional abilities.
