    [Article] Speculating Grand Prix Columbus

I was given another opportunity to write for Mana Nation and this time around I figured that it was time to write an article to let players outside the loop on Legacy know what the known metagame is for the Grand Prix and to make a few predictions and suggestions for some of the established decks.

The article can be found here: http://www.mananation.com/speculatin...prix-columbus/

I hope that the piece is able to help out at least a few people.

I believe I'll have a weekly piece, that wouldn't be too bad.

    Cool article; I enjoyed it.

My favorite part was the Burning-Tree Shaman vs. Knight of the Reliquary portion, which is a debate I still can't settle yet. Knight of the Reliquary is a gigantic beater for a measly 3 mana, and Burning-Tree Shaman is big enough in a lot of cases, and often does a ton of extra damage with his ability. They're both pretty awesome in their respective roles.

Hopefully we'll see more frequent writing from you!

You spelled Reanimator wrong. You should bribe the guy who proofreads your stuff better.

I like your writing style, man. And your knowledge comes through. I learned stuff from that article. Well done.
"Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
"Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason."
"Governing is too important to be left to people as silly as politicians."
"Politicians were mostly people who'd had too little morals and ethics to stay lawyers."

I've got Mark Gottlieb's confirmation that the unintended combo of Drought + Sleight of Mind will be indeed legal for GP Columbus. Time to build a deck before they close the loophole!
Please stop talking about whether Force of Will is broken or not. It obviously is, and rather than "the glue that holds vintage together" it would be better to call it "the rug under which you hide the filth until there's so much that you can no longer conceal it".

I live in the Detroit Area. I normally play at Get Your Game On in Ann Arbor, but I was traveling around all over until I won a Trial - we may have met in Lansing if you were at one of the trials there. I played Landstill and was in a match for three hours in the top 4.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback from those of you who did. I put a lot of time into the two articles that I've put out and the ones I'm writing now. Now that this weekly post is basically confirmed I can really finish the articles that I'm working on and I hope that some of the pieces will be a good resource for [especially new] players to brush up on the ideas that go behind deck building and some of the higher level game play.

Finn, I really try to approach the article with an air of knowledge but I try really hard not to pontificate. I spend a lot of time with guys who spout endlessly about how they are playing the best deck and how all of the choices are perfect and then navigate themselves to a 2-3 finish. I try to be aware that there are different, successful play styles to the game and that I don't know everything, but I'm willing to discuss options because even if I don't have the answer I'm interested in sharing my view and learning the points that others have to make. I really hope that some of that comes through and I think it's great that even just a few people have found the articles worthwhile.

While we're on the subject of grammar, you should have placed the word "Reanimator" in quotation marks; they emphasize that an instance of a word refers to the word itself rather than its associated concept.

It's a free article and the guy wanted to write.

I am the guy who proofread the article. I told him about it after I sent it back to him as I noticed it late. He forgot to fix it. Was poking fun about our mutual mistake.

You shouldn't have let him use "whom" as a subject.

"Teacher" doesn't need to be capitalized unless you're referring specifically to your position's job title.

I feel its pretty unlikely that Goblin King is going to live much past the declare attackers phase. If it wasn't a huge trap I'd be more in favor of it but it seems like it's just going to get the Goblins player involved in a lot of unfavorable combat math. One is probably fine but I would just expect to get two-for-oned on it.

Yes, but there are also tons of situations where they will be tapped out from playing their third blocker and have no reprieve from your multi-piledriver alpha strike. It doesn't hurt to have it.

Having only one means you're fairly unlikely to draw it early on, which is when Zoo is most likely to tap out for blockers. It also seems pretty loose for Zoo to tap out for blockers unless they don't have any, since burn spells massacre your team just as much as Nacatls and Goyfs do (better, even, since taking out Piledrivers means they're probably coming out way ahead of you in combat). Furthermore, if you have an untapped Vial open, it seems positively crazy to not at least leave a open to respond to Vialing in a lord.
