[ANNOUNCEMENT] Recent Changes to MTS - Adepts and Reputation

As you've probably seen, the staff made a few changes to MTS recently and we're giving you a quick explanation.

    1. Adept User Group Removed. This user group came about circa 2003, prior to the Type 1 / 1.5 banned list split, and was a way to reward and highlight individuals that added constructive value to the Legacy community. That was a long time ago and honestly, many of the earliest Adepts and those that were added to the group over time, have moved onto other things in life. While we've debating removing the group for the past couple of years, inertia and the sentiment that "it's not doing any harm" have kept it off the chopping block several times. Based on recent feedback we've received, and another round of debate, we finally took action and removed the group. All teal users are back to navy blue.

    2. Reputation Feature Removed. As we explained when the reputation feature was rolled out, "The User Reputation software is an attempt to democratize the Adept system." If all went as planned, it was intended to replace the Adept user group. As it happened, the feature was used inconsistently -- many users reported receiving both positive rep and negative rep for the same post, many didn't know it was there. And if your reputation increase to the point of "promotion," you'd only know that by mousing over the little green box. It wasn't obvious. Anyway, the rep feature didn't have the impact we'd hope for so we turned it off.

Going forward, "reputation" and "adepts" are going to be old fashioned. If you add high quality content to this site, are consistent, helpful and know what you're talking about people will recognize it and treat you accordingly.
