Why would you play this when you could play the old Life.dec?

For fun, honestly. Slightly less chance that you die to a single removal spell or pithing needle. Fewer 'pieces' needed means you don't have to find a certain set of creatures, just gain a bunch of life and beat face.

You turned out to be right re: Flagstones.

I guess my big issue with this deck in Legacy is it mostly is the same old Standard deck, with very few Legacy powered cards to give it an edge. It is very fun though :)

    Re: Soul Sisters

I really want Soul Sisters to somehow be viable in Legacy, but I can't see it doing too well at all... there isn't enough deck tech to it and the idea lends itself to overextending into death.

I really think you should test the deck a bit before expressing your opinion. Yes, you tend to overextend, but you also can recover easier from board-wipe than other weenie/aggro decks. Once I manage to find the Spectral Processions (seriously, no one around me has them), I'm going to be playing this as my local legacy tournaments, I'll have more results to post then.

I like it, how does it matchup with a goyf though? If you switch to green I would drop the Auriok Champion and for the Warden like you mentioned and also fill out that final spot with maybe the green leyline. If you get it opening hand I have a feeling it could be insane. How fast have you killed in testing?

    Re: Soul Sisters

It's not about how quickly you kill with this deck. This is a mid-to-lategame deck, your first few turns are just dropping Sisters and surviving. Then you hit 4 mana and start dropping threats.

Edit: Updated my original decklist, as it was missing 8 cards.

    Re: Soul Sisters

I recently posted this over at MTG Salvation, but I thought I'd stick it here as well.

I think the key to making this deck work better would be to take a look at Goblin decks port over some of the strategy they use.

    Land 22
    6 Plains
    4 Scrublands
    4 Marsh Flats
    4 Rishadan Port
    4 Wasteland

    Creatures 26
    4 Soul Warden
    4 Soul's Attendant
    4 Serra Ascendant
    4 Mother of Runes
    4 Martyr of Sands
    4 Ajani's Pridemate
    2 Ranger of Eos

    Other Spells 12
    4 Aether Vial
    4 Swords to Plowshares
    2 Proclamation of Rebirth
    2 Oblivion Ring

    Tentative Sideboard 15
    4 Extirpate
    4 Perish
    4 Pithing Needle
    2 Oblivion Ring
    1 Ranger of Eos

I haven't tested this at all, it's pure theorycraft. But I wonder if the lifegain that Swords gives works too much against this deck's gameplan. Path definitely isn't the answer though due to the land denial package.

CA is also a potential problem for the deck and the only answer that I can see would be Ranger of Eos (sitting at a hefty 4cmc).

Other deck choices also includes Auriok Champion, Lone Missionary, and Honorable Scout.

The black splash is obviously huge and not to be underestimated. It opens up the sideboard to cards that no mono-white deck has business having access to.

Hey guys...I built a life deck a while back for legacy and just noticed soul sisters. I figured we could help each other.

Ignore that it says U instead of W as I was probably drunk at the time..haha.

    Re: Soul Sisters

Is there a reason these cards aren't used in the deck?

    Spectral Procession
    Gift of Estates
    Knight of the White Orchid
    Dauntless Escort
    Ghostly Prison

Those cards seem to answer the problems that the deck would face.

    Re: Soul Sisters

    Here is my current list:

    Deck
    Lands:
    19 Plains

    Planeswalkers:
    2 Ajani Goldmane
    2 Elspeth, Knight-Errant

    Enchantments:
    3 Oblivion Ring

    Artifacts:
1 Sword of Light and Shadow
    1 Umezawa's Jitte

    Creatures:
    2 Stoneforge Mystic
    3 Ranger of Eos
    4 Serra Ascendant
    4 Soul Warden
    3 Soul's Attendant
    4 Auriok Champion
    4 Ajani's Pridemate
    1 Student of Warfare Instants:
    4 Swords to Plowshares

    Sorceries:
    3 Proclamation of Rebirth

The deck plays out extremely consistently and I actually prefer o-ring over vindicate. Reasons why:
    1) Emrakul shenanigans/Play it down against show and tell
    2) Unaffected by curse catcher/things that deal with sorceries
    3) Good against Jace (I've had multiple jaces played against me..after o-ringing one I o-ringed my own o-ring to legend rule both jaces..mouthfull)
    4) If they screw you off of black then it is uncastable

Granted some of these reasons are trivial, but when you actually come across them it is great to be able to do it.

That being said I'd like to replace Ajani. He is the only one I'm not so happy with. The avatar token is cool, but I mainly use him for pumping and vigilance. Any suggestions for another bomb as a replacement?

    I was thinking:
    Mirror Entity
    Sword of Fire and Ice
    Emeria Angel
    Mangara of Corondor / Karakas
    Mirran Crusader
    Mobilization
    Dawn Elemental
    Decree of Justice
    Dust Elemental
    Hero of Bladehold

    Anyway..Tournament results.
Took this deck to a 60 person tournament and went 4-2 just out of reach of top 8!

    My games were as follows:

    Round 1: U/R Goblins
Game 1: He wins the roll and starts with Lackey t1. I drop warden on my turn. He swings in with a lackey and I chump it. He drops another lackey. I drop an Auriok Champion to chump his team for a while. Eventually stoneforge into jitte for the win.

Game 2: Similar scenario except I don't drop my 1 drop for fear of bounce (he runs blue). I plow his t1 lackey to drop 2 dudes next turn then an auriok champion. Again chumping his team until I get jitte out for the win again. Didn't see any pridemates or planeswalkers either game in this round.

    1-0

    Round 2: Counterbalance
Game 1:Game 1 I land a few beaters and plow his goyf, but he EEs my dudes and keeps me off of my proclamation. I probably should have just waited for 6 mana to forecast it. Oh well...

Game 2: I've a strong start and continue beating him down with Elspeth and tokens. Eventually he lands some plows on my dudes and tops a pithing needle. We went to time so I lose this game because of a lack of time.

    1-1

    Round 3: Pox
Game 1: I get smallpoxed a few times, but I land a bunch of dudes and beat down. He has a tombstalker which eats an O-ring. He gets a bit mana flooded and thats game.

Game 2: He keeps me off dudes and drops a nether spirit and a totem. I plow the dude to swing through trying to race a rack...man that was rough..I was worried for a min. He got me down to 7 at one point when I stabilized with life and dropped a jitte. He scooped soon after.

    2-1

    Round 4: Belcher
Game 1: He empties for 8 right away, but I manage to stabilize, gain some life, and drop pro red dudes. I win g1 against combo????

Game 2: I lose pretty fast as he emptied for 16 turn 1....

Game 3: I drop soul warden t1. He t1 empties for 16 which nets me 16 life...SWEET! I stabilize the board and it looks like I'm going to win. I'm at 15 and he has 13 dudes on the board. I have 6 blockers, 4 of which won't die after blocking. His turn he wishes for goblin war strike!!! Damn..I can't fend off the attack while at 4 life...

    2-2

    Round 5: Aggro Loam
Game 1: Game one I get a ton of dudes in play and beat down with Serra Ascendant. All he has is a goyf and a confidant.

Game 2: This game was interesting as he played worm harvest
which gave him lots of dudes to chump my 100/100 pridemates. I was hovering at about 40-50 life the entire time, but couldn't find a 4th land to play elspeth and just get it over with... Eventually got some serra ascendants to finish him off.

    Round 6: Merfolk
Game 1: He out tempos me and runs kira main, which turned off my o-rings and swords HARD. Ouch..

Game 2: I land some wardens with pridemate and beat down for a lot. He goes into chump block mode and I win this one.

Game 3: I get a huge pridemate equiped with jitte and beat through. He almost had me, but I stabilized at 6 life. It was a close game.

    3-2

    Round 6: Merfolk
Game 1: He had more tempo than me for most of the game and I couldn't quite stabilize in time to stop his alpha strike.
Game 2/3: They both went about the same way. I dropped some wardens with pridemates after. Stoneforge into jitte which clinched me both games. However game 3 was close, but he emptied his hand trying to keep me off of pridemates and such. I definitely had CA there.

    4-2

Total was 4-2 for 15th place out of 60. Oh well... The whole day I got very surprised looks, but it was a lot of fun. I'm not currently running 3 Proclamations in the main. It is such a sick card...especially with Ranger.

    Edit:

I have been testing hero of bladehold and she is AMAZING! Literally whenever she hits the board I win within a few turns or get obscene amounts of life. Absolutely ridiculous. You can stack the trigger so that she pumps out the tokens then pumps everything attacking. She also pumps attacking pridemates before combat damage is dealt!

As sideboard: Ghostway? (dodges mass removal, triggers lifegain & Ajani's pridemate all over again?)

BTW, nice report. Congrats for the 4-2

Yes, but it also pulls all of the counters off of Pridemate therefore nullifying the ability. It pretty much just gains you some life if you have wardens.

    Re: Soul Sisters

Innistrad has brought some nice cards to ponder

I lent the following deck to a rather inexperienced player and he ended up 5th out of 13:

    //Sisters
    3 Bitterblossom
    3 Knight of the Reliquary
    3 Mother of Runes
    2 Serra's Ascendant
    2 Soul Warden
    3 Soul's Attendant

    //(Br)others
    4 Ajani's Pridemate
    4 Dark Confidant
    1 Gideon's Lawkeeper
    3 Mayor of Avabruck
    2 Mentor of the Meek
    2 Ranger of Eos

    //Stuff
    3 Go for the Throat
    1 Loxodon Warhammer
    3 Path to Exile

    //Lands
    1 Bayou
    1 Forest
    1 Gavony Township
    1 Horizon Canopy
    4 Marsh Flats
    3 Plains
    1 Savannah
    1 Scrubland
    1 Sejiri Steppe
    1 Swamp
    1 Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth
    1 Volrath's Stronghold
    1 Wasteland
    4 Windswept Heath

    //Sideboard
    1 Crucible of Worlds
    3 Stony Silence
    4 Vampire Hexmage
    1 Eternal Witness
    2 Krosan Grip
    1 Knight of the Reliquary
    1 Bojuka Bog
    1 Dark Depths
    1 Karakas

    Experiences:
I'd now cut the Mayors for one or two more Soul Sisters and move Crucible (or a Life from the Loam?) to the main.
Maybe KotR should also be cut in favor of Auriok Champion? Playing only two colors makes the mana base a little more resilient, too.
Gavony is too expensive and too colorless.
    One Sister negates Bitterblossom's drawback.
Mentor+Blossom provides card advantage almost on par with Good old Bob.

So this deck did a 5-0 in a Legacy League with a rather different approach. Despite all those tokens, I wonder about the lack of Karlov of the Ghost Council. That card should be nuts in Soul Sisters.

The 5-0 was by ewlandon, of BR Reanimator fame. There is a stream replay on his twitch under twitch.tv/ewlandon which is very interesting. Not a bad deck but seems pretty inconsistent.
