This looks cool, but I'm way out of reach to Ohio.

How much does it cost to enter?

Whoops, fucked that one up. Tried to evade the generic Copy + Paste from the last one and type my own, haha. Entry is $20.

damn it, time to dust off a ~real deck~, I don't imagine I'll be going undefeated with 12post at the meandeck.

I'll see if i can get someone to ride up to Columbus with me, and try to make it. It will feel good to not be playing Valakut and Pauper.

Thanks anyway but I just checked my face book and I have a car load.
It is funny I should know who you guys are. I live between Portsmouth and Waverly. Have any of you guys played at Ice Age (when it was open), Castle comics (when they had tournaments), Shawnee State Gaming clubs or when they was having the weekly legacy tournament in Peebles? Or do you guys play at Bainbridge?

I guess I'll post to let everyone know that Survival is still legal for this event, and Time Spiral is still not legal for this event.

Best of luck to all my COlumbus and Wadsworth peeps in attendance, sadly, the THREATENER didn't contact me, so I don't believe there will be any R1G1T1 "How many cards in Hand" -"Ummm seven" "Well, thoughtseize you?..." -"Conceede" this event. I hope.

    Murry Christmas ev'ybody!

    I'll have them up tomorrow.

Small event today, only 22 people showed up. I went 3-1-1 with GW Survival, sadly was paired against Aeon Bridge in the Top 8, stopped two of his kill conditions, couldn't stop the third. Unfortunate.

It's depressing that we only had this many people, compared to last year when we pulled in close to 40 people after Christmas.

I'll have the metagame breakdown and decklists up tonight, probably only Top 4 since the tournament was rather small. These need a lot more notice -- the next date is set to be March 6th.

Re: Meandeck Open - Columbus, Ohio - 12/26/2010

I wouldn't be too down because of the turnout. Last year there was a GP and all the hype that comes with that keeping the numbers up for a while. Until there's another high-profile tournament, I would expect similar numbers. Another factor was probably the date chosen for the event. While you draw more players from the local community when you plan a tournament when they're home for the holidays, you also will probably miss all the other players from surrounding areas who would have come but didn't because they were home for the holidays. I haven't been a fan of planning tournaments close to holidays for this reason. If it hadn't been the day after Christmas, I would have considered coming with another player but as it stood, it wasn't even a consideration because it was the day after Christmas.

I actually would have expected a higher turnout. It may have been to do with the venue. We get 12-20 regularly at our weekly $5 Wednesday tournaments. I would have expected to have at least half as many more, as a CASH, MEANDECK, PUBLICIZED tournament should draw people willing to travel, as well as pulling all of the occasional local players.
