I mentioned I won first place last week, here's the top 8: http://blog.imaginaire.com/2014/03/2...ists-du-top-8/
Yeah, I got lucky with the pairings...
For those who are encouraging the black splash, how has Tuk Tuk Scrapper been as a 2-of? Have you been able to get him when you wanted despite his 4 cost? The black splash looks really strong in this meta but when making changes to the deck, I noticed that with 2 Tuk-tuks, we have 6-7 4 drops. Im wondering if it is possible to play jund Goblins for 2 Tin-Streets, or possibly, as I will be looking into, 1 of each tuk-tuk and Tin Street main and 1 each in sb. The only problem with that is that playing Warren Weirding means we pretty much need black as often as red so it might be hard fetching for one splash because of the need of the other. Any thoughts?
I play one Scrapper maindeck and one sideboard, and they have worked pretty well for me. They are great at fighting lategame artifacts (mostly equipments), and even an early batterskull doesn't come online until turn three or so. The black splash has a lot of great cards to offer. What I've noticed is that you want to make sure you have enough black sources in the deck, I'm currently on 7 and it feels too light in my opinion.
Going to attend a tourney this weekend. Here'S the list I'm planning to play:
MANA (22)
4 Caverns
4 Auntie's Hovel
1 Badlands
4 Fetchlands
3 Wasteland
3 Mountain
3 Chrome Mox
CORE (28)
4 Vial
4 Lackey
4 Winstigator
4 Piledriver
4 Chieftain
4 Matron
4 Ringleader
OTHERS (10)
3 Warchiefs
4 Tarfire
1 Stingscourger
1 Warren Weiriding
1 Tuktuk Scrapper
Sideboard (15)
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Cabal Therapy
3 Perish
2 Earwig Squad
2 Rakdos Charm
Thoughts
* 4 Tarfire, 0 Gempalm: tuning the list towards killing Squires more consistantly
* 0 "fatties" (Krenko, Crafter, SGC) because I still don't feel the need to do so
* 2 Rakdos Charm as additional artifact hate, that can still work well enough against some combo decks.
* the rest of the MD and SB should be self-explanatory and is still the core of cards I would not wnat to change
Comments, especially on Rakdos Charm ( I dont have any notable experience with the card), are welcome.
MountainCaverns, Lackey, Go.
If you have an apple and I have an apple and we exchanges our apples, we each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange our ideas, we each have two ideas.
I thought about rain of gore sideboard for my own RB build yesterday against punishing fire, griselbrand, batterskull and tendrils. Test that for me.

You very likely can build it without spending any money, just out of what you already have.

Right. That's because I thought about vortex first, and then realized rain of gore did a lot of other things. Unfortunately they split the roles.

They should definitely errata that to include lifelink. That would make it almost playable. Almost.
Doesn't seem right, but anyway I would probably test vortex before rain of gore in my version. I would rather have people understand punishing fire isn't good enough in a TNN metagame but that won't happen.

Rakdos Charm is a good card because it can come up in a lot of matchups, but it is hardly outstanding in any. Still, have your go. For me, in the end, it was just not worth it, but the meta shifted a lot since it came out.
What I got from testing:
- Does not board it in against: Canadian. Keeping mana up to a Dazable spell to try to trick them in combat is not worth it; Snapcaster decks. Same reason why ReB is bad against them. If they have equipment, then fine; Goblins. Blowing Vial and dealing dmg to the face is nice, but if they Vial a Lackey in, you're screwed. UWR. Maybe bringing 1 is ok, but you'll have 2 targets, and you have 2 Tuktuks already.
- It is useful against: Equipment decks (2 at most), Lingering Souls decks (remember you can hit planeswalkers); Low removal decks (to ritual in a Ringleder from a Lackey); Lands and similar grave strategies.
- It is awesome against: Dredge (they'll always miss with Therapy), and you can either knock their grave or kill them; Elves (great if they go for the Glimpse kill); Reanimator (obviously, though pretty much all other grave hate is better); Goyf decks that have equips.
Tis is te experience I had with the card. (also, loved playing it against Lingering Souls...)
ps: moving to Europe is quite hard work. Will try to post more in the next couple of weeks. Been loving the Reports and discussions. Keep'em coming!
Super Bizarros Team. Beating everything with small green dudes and big waves.
I've played 10 matches with Kiki-Jiki so far and it's been every bit as good as Josiah advertised. Opponents spend their removal on Lackey, Instigator, Piledriver and Hastelords, meaning Kiki-Jiki frequently sticks around. The thing I had really underestimated is how well it works with nearly any goblin in the deck, not just the ones with CIP abilities. An opponent can chump or trade with a single Instigator, but Kiki giving you two extras out of nowhere (1 at opponent's EOT, 1 on your turn) is GG if you have anything at all in hand. Piledriver copies become similarly nuts. I'm sure this isn't news to the goblin veterans, I just wanted to emphasize how the density of threatening goblins in the Instigator build improves Kiki's quality and durability.
I've come to agree that Gempalm is frequently ineffective in this build, and will reduce to 0-1 copies.
Very happy with 2-3 shatter goblins and 2 slots devoted to Fatties.
Hi everyone, I went 2-2 yesterday with a R/B list.
R1 Merfolk 2-0
His list was a bit rogue, with Tidal Couriers for card advantage. At one point I had the board under control, and he seemed to be out of gas. Then he played his merfolk ringleader and drew three cards. I still managed to win it though, mostly thanks to Krenko.
R2 R/W Painter
I won the roll and kept a six while my opponent mulliganned to five. I lead with vial > port, lackey, and followed that up with Krenko and Wasteland. G2 My opponent had a revoker for my vial, but I played a chalice for one. He recruited for a Manic Vandal to blow it up. He later recruited for Painter's Servant, but I had a Cabal Therapy in hand. He also had an Ensnaring Bridge, but Tuktuk Scrapper took care of that.
R3 Bant 1-2
This deck was a bit different. He played Derevi, along with a Fauna Shaman package, with sweet synergies together with Squee, Quirion Ranger and Scryb Ranger.
I made a misplay here that may have cost me the game. I didn't wasteland him when he only had one blue source. Although I certainly wasn't expecting him to play a Derevi next turn I still think it would have been correct. G2 lackey connected and I quickly took over the board.
R4 Elves 1-2
G1 I was on the draw and died pretty fast. I kept a five with sharpshooter, giving me a chance if he had a slow start, but Hoof, there it was.
G2 I played a Chalice for one, Pyrokinesised his guys and went Chieftain > Piledriver, putting him on a fast clock. I made a misplay on his last turn by porting his Forest instead of his fetch, which would have kept him off black mana.
G3 My opponent got a Progenitus into play t2. I had a Warren Weirding in hand and had one turn to draw a pyrokinesis for his elves. I didn't get there.
I have just won a local tournament with 8 players for slot to the legacy masters liegue.
