Yeah I have a boatload of duals I plan to give away during the summer. Literally, a boatload

I thought about a third giant legacy event in May, but I figured between the GP: Prov Trial on may1st, that's enough legacy for my store... plus I have all in May launch parties, pre-releases and the ever key yugioh box tourneys

If I schedule any more events in May I won't make it to GP: Providence due to exhaustion =D

@Josh- Happy to have the event on a weekend you can make it. I like feedback from players, and I realized the original sat I planned this on (may 15th) was launch party weekend so that was a no-go. The 21st is a great day because it's the weekend before GP: Providence, it will be 24k minimum so if you're looking to get last minute ratings points towards byes they will count from this event, and the only other big events on during this weekend are other tcq's (new york and maine and those are both standard).

I'm thrilled to hold a TCQ. Been trying to do one for a while, but I'm a go big or go home kinda guy, so I waited for the right opportunity to hold a really big one. I believe this will be my biggest event to date and it is the perfect lead-up for anyone planning to attend GP: Providence the following weekend.

There will be plenty of more updates to come, but in the mean time those fixing for weekly legacy can see me on thursdays. Thanks again,

    - Dave

Re: 5/21 ri: 1k legacy tcq at die hard games =d

This event is officially 24k value

The week before GP:providence, this event will be your best chance to test your deck out and play for big prizes!

TCQ's have been drawing crazy in the area lately, with most being over 80 players. This is the first legacy TCQ and I'd like to show that we can draw just as big as a standard one.

I will most likely payout well past top 8, just depends on turnout. I will have additional space for this event. Being in a giant mill with several empty rooms has its advantages

Also don't forget $5 store credit just for playing in this and our GP:Trial May 1st. http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...-Hard-Games!-D
You must enter both events before receiving the $5, and it cannot be used for any tourneys, but credit is good for anything non-tourney in my store

It goes without saying (even though I've said it alot lately :P) that my store has tons of big legacy events in May. We also recently announced the $10 playset of blue duals tourney on 5/26. That event is the Thursday before the GP and will feature free food and hopefully alot of sourcers
    http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...%29-Free-Pizza!

That's it for now. Thanks for reading my updates and your continued support of my store's events <3

Re: 5/21 ri: 1k legacy tcq at die hard games =d

Well, this event is now only a few weeks away and is the sister event to the 90 person trial we just had. Anyone playing in both te trial and this event will receive $5 store credit. We also just added a free 2nd chance side event to this of 4 Time Spiral

I'm looking forward to this as it should make the perfect event to test your deck out the week before GP: Providence.

Also if we get anywhere in range of what we had for the trial, I will not shy away from adding more prizes

That's it for now, but plenty of updates to follow as this event approaches.

    Thanks,
    Dave

Re: 5/21 ri: 1k legacy tcq at die hard games =d

    HI.
WE HEARD YOU WERE HAVING A TOURNAMENT NEXT SAT AND WERE THINKING OF SHOWING UP.

Me: Oh for the love of--

TIMESPIRAL: WE WERE PLANNING ON BEING IN YOUR FREE SIDE EVENT.

Me: Yeah, yeah. You're the free first place prize. I get it, I get it.

    TIMESPIRAL: AREN'T YOU EXCITED?

Me: Sure. Now go figure out if you're from Urza's Saga or if you're the name of an entire set. Come back May 21st.

TIMESPIRAL: WE- WE DON'T KNOW WHO WE ARE!

    *Time Spiral storms off*

    ---

    They'll be back

So, I'm very excited for this event. It's my last big one for a while and is in my opinion the perfect way to prepare for GP: Providence. That event is only a week after this one... and this event is next week!

TCQ's traditionally draw very well in this area and anyone who's been to other events of mine know I'm not shy about adding prizes when big crowds show

This is also the first ever legacy TCGplayer.com qualifier which I view as a big deal. Might not be to some, but I want to put on another very special tournament and I believe coming off our 90 player trial just a few weeks ago, this event could rival that in attendance.

Final reminder: If you attended our trial a few weeks back and also attend this, you will receive $5 complimentary store credit

That's about it. Thanks again for your support of my events. I enjoy running these and although May has been a whirlwind of events for the store, we're enjoying every minute of it and hope you'll join us next saturday May 21st for our Legacy 1K TCQ!

If anyone going here from Boston, please let me know. I'd like to attend this event but I don't have a ride.
I will compensate for the gas and appreciate. Thank you in advance.

Re: 5/21 ri: 1k legacy tcq at die hard games =D

    Just a few days away

The event is 24K value, which means some serious ratings points can be exchanged at this.

We will have plenty of room for this event and we are bracing for a potentially enormous turnout. The possibility of 100 or more players looms and we'll be ready for it this time

Tournament will start at noon (or as close to that as reasonably possible)

Decklists will need to be handed in by 11:50 am to avoid potential penalties. Doors will open at 10:30am.

Singles case will be fully stocked and then some. If we get anywhere near what we had for our GP:Trial a few weeks ago prizes will increase accordingly The prizes listed in the above were an example at 40 people. Honestly I expect to pay out 9-12th (60 or more players) with a very realistic chance of top 16 (80 or more players) also receiving prize.

The $1,000 to top 4 is guaranteed regardless of attendance, that will be payable via checks I will have on hand. I've done checks for all my prior 1k cash payouts, but figured I'd mention that on here for those not familiar.

Judge staff is looking phenomenal, with many top judges in the area coming out of the woodwork for this one. I will have up to 4 on hand, plus me in the background (I'm also a judge but I don't advertise that ). The head judge will as usual be Joe Harrington.

The bonuses for this event include a free time spiral side event that is guaranteed regardless of attendance. It's great way to win some nice prize if the main event doesn't go well for you.

And of course for the 90! of you that attended our trial a few weeks back, each and every one of you who also play in this event will receive $5 store credit. Credit can't be used for the tournament, but is good for anything else in the store... and we'll have plenty you can spend it on.

And uh, that's it. I've crammed enough updates in here.

Thanks to the tremendous support the legacy community has shown my store. We'll try to make this Saturday another memorable event for those who play.

    - Dave

Re: 5/21 ri: 1k legacy tcq at die hard games =d

48 Players decided to play during THE RAPTURE and go compete for $1,000 in cash and $300 in credit. 6 Rounds with cut to top 8.

Standings after 6 rounds and before Top 8:

    1) Scott Blumenthal /w 14 points UW Thopter
    2) Jeff Pyka /w 14 points UW Stoneforge
    3) Stefan Ellsworth /w 14 points URW Stoneforge
    4) Louis Gentile /w 14 points Enchantress
    5) Josh Cicio /w 14 points Mono U Control
    6) Jared Bollinger /w 13 points Mono R Burn
    7) Joe Robillard /w 13 points my rock deck :p
    8) Brian Lynch /w 13 points URW Stoneforge

Clean cut with all 4-1-1's or better making the cut.

    PLAYOFFS:
    Quarterfinals:
    Brian beat Scott
    Louis beat Cicio
    Stefan beat Jared
    Pyka beat Joe (nooooooo)

    Semifinals:
    Brian beat Louis
    Sefan beat Pyka

Brian dropped in finals so Stefan could get the TCGplayer invite. Stefan was technically the winner, but they split.

Two URW Stoneforge decks in finals. Very interesting. No Merfolk or Team America in Top 8 was pretty staggering given recent results everywhere.

Had alot of fun with this event. Smaller turnout than expected, but I gave everything out as advertised. Trenton Bollinger won our side event for 4 Time Spiral with Burn.

Decklists will be up later this week. In the mean time don't forget we'll be closed this Fri/Sat/Sun as the GP will finally be upon us. Our last day open prior to the GP is on Thursday May 26th =D We're have a giant get-together and an event for 4 blue duals and free pizza! http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...%29-Free-Pizza!

Thanks again. Will of course have pics to add as well

    See you,

    Dave
