    [EDH] Gaddock Teeg

My new fun deck, largely inspired by the fact that every time I get deep into an interactive multiplayer game, some douche bag assembles his infinite combo, and then it's just over. Always a huge let-down. Gaddock Teeg is meant to prevent anybody from ever doing anything broken... because screw them.

I really like the idea of this deck! Brooding Saurian, Aurification, Hallowed burial and Oblation are a good anti-shenanigans cards. Burial and oblation are kind of auto includes in any EDH deck with access to white. Mirari's wake might be good too.

The problem with a lot of those cards is that they can't be played if Gaddock Teeg is out.

I realized that, but they just seem so good any anti synergy can be ignored. Well maybe brooding saurian might not be worth it unless a lot of people play blue in your group. Miraris wake might be unnecessary with your low curve, but hallowed burial is kinda of the "oh shit!" button for when teeg has failed. Oblation is just awesome general hate.

Cards are marked Defense (help you live longer because you becoming public enemy number one as people want to cast spells and can't), Answer (gets rid of troublesome permanents and can help with defense), Engine(helps you get more card advantage), and of course Hate (completely nullifying the remaining strategies that opponents can use to try to get around Gaddock Teeg).
The strongest engines are Yisan, the Wanderer Bard (when you get to 5 counters and fetch Seedborn Muse things spiral out of control quickly),followed up by Survival of the Fittest/Fauna Shaman (they tutor hate, and can combo with Loyal Retainers ), and followed up by Argothian Enchantress/Mesa Enchantress/Eidolon of Blossoms/Verduran Enchantress. The deck is fun and does cool things but at the cost of becoming an easy target due to stopping very powerful spells people like to cast.

Something I thought about. Congrats on executing this lovely strategy, a GW control is not seen everyday.
Speaking of engine: have you given any thought to Rancor-Auratog-Femeref Enchantress "combo"? I know that it takes three slots, and I knw that the cards alone do very little, I'm just asking.

    Nice deck, indeed.

I have not realized that engine you mentioned. Rancor was in my original build of this deck and very playable but I cut it for more defense instead of beats. Other cards with rancor's resilience effect include Brilliant Halo , Cessation, and Spirit Loop. I feel Auratog is sub par because most of the time you do not want to sacrifice your own enchantments, and there will probably be times you do not have an enchantment to sacrifice. But it DOES make Oblivion Ring and Act of Authority much better by being permanent removal by sacrificing it when it triggers. Femeref Enchantress is the worst enchantress. Femeref's only sac outlet is Auratog. Relieing on your opponent to blow up your enchantments is bad especially if your deck doesn't have synergy with Open the Vults or Replenish. Auratog The other enchantress cards are strictly better, Eidolon of Blossoms is the forth enchantress card. If you are looking for recurring draw effects the deck currently has Broken Fall + any of the 4 enchantress card which is much easier to assemble and has more synergy with other cards in the deck.

I am trying real hard to fit an Aven Mind Censor. Cannot cut a land due to low land count.

So I'm thinking of coming back to this deck, but I'm trying to figure out the right approach. I basically want it to play like DnT/Maverick decks. Is this the right move to make?

    Maybe?

I have a deck with Selvala, Explorer Returned at the helm that I essentially built like Maverick, and I find that it's pretty robust. That said, I'm not running much in the way of hate bears because they're just not that effective in my playgroup. If things were more combo oriented where I play I'd definitely change that, though.

    Re: [EDH] Gaddock Teeg

I updated my teeg list because teeg isn't very welcomed in other peoples' pods. I wanted to make it so I can swap it out with another commander for most casual games. Saffi is great to pilot the deck, since people feel they will have a chance to actually cast a few spells. Saffi is also a powerful alternative commander and makes me feel like I can carrying 2 edh decks in one deck box. I haven't been able to test this list out but it seems stupid powerful. Only reason Pattern of Rebirth is in the gaddock teeg deck is because Boonweaver Giant bypasses the restriction. Pattern of Rebirth is probably the best thing to tutor for ever if running Saffi as the alternative commanders (probably tutoring boonweaver , recast commander the following turn, and auto win if you have one more creature to move Bound by Moonsilver away to an opponent's creature around turn 5) . I could make the list more brutal if I put triskelion over Brisella-kuul (my nickname for the meld creature). The deck fishes well. It has the ability to tutor every creature in the deck with Boonweaver Giant +Pattern of Rebirth+ Bound by Moonsilver. Boonweaver Giant/Auratouched Mage + Saffi/ Karmic Guide/Gift of Immortality+ any other creature you control + one other targetable creature (including opponents) = tutor whole deck (including infinite mana with Nature's Chosen, infinite spells with Eternal Witness and and infinite draw with Yavimaya Elder). It can be disrupted by graveyard hate but the creatures are pretty sweet by themselves which should make it fun anyway. The combo revolves around tutoring Bound by Moonsilver and getting a way to reset Boonweaver to tutor Pattern of Rebirth then use it to tutor out Karmic Guide +Saffi/Fiend Hunter+ Reveilark using Bound by Moonsilver as the sac outlet to gain all the creature tutoring ever. Auratouched Mage is a peusdo Boonweaver. I opted to make my deck really convoluted. I can take out the Eldritch angels to get more slots for a protean hulk and triskelion but I figured it looks cooler as is. The thing I like about this deck is it still can play the hate bear game and if I wish to combo , I can (even while keeping a dampening matrix on the field :-p ).

    1 Bruna, the Fading Light

Sad thing is I started out mostly as a fair deck with the intention to play a fair game. Then I slowly accidently morphed into some busted convoluted combo deck. I don't know why I ruin nice things

    Re: [EDH] Gaddock Teeg

I misread Bound by Moonsilver. It has a once per turn clause. While still good. It's less busted then I thought it was. This actually makes me happier because can play sweet cards without actually auto winning...this makes it more likely I can see cards like brisella-kuul (meld angel nick name) because my opponent is less likely to auto scoop. Yay!
