Hi,
I would like to try something similar with red.
But it is diffcult to build the mana base 19 or 20 land.
I am trying to put 3 moon in main deck.
3 show And tell + 3 emrakul in side
Try something like this:
4x Scalding Tarn
2x Polluted Delta
2x Volcanic Island
4x Island
1x Mountain
1x Seat of the Synod
1x Great Furnace
3x Ancient Tomb
If you're trying to do this, then the above manabase will hurt you a lot. Which MU are you trying to improve with the addition of the moons?
Why the transformational SB?
I'm wondering this as well. It's cool to see a throwback to some of the OG Painter plans but the S&T/Emrakul plan seems really weak with all the decks that you would want to bring it in for. Grixis delver is playing blast effects naturally and will probably bring them in, and if they are usually playing edicts that comes in as well. The combo is fast enough to compete with most combo decks and in the S&T you probably don't want to be casting S&T when omniscience is a frequently played card.
That's cool. I've really had good success with it. It attacks from multiple angles when necessary which I really like. I've made a couple revisions, mostly in the SB. This is where I am at with it currently:
// Lands
1 [MR] Great Furnace
2 [TE] Ancient Tomb
2 [UNH] Island
2 [B] Volcanic Island
2 [KTK] Bloodstained Mire
1 [UNH] Swamp

2 [MR] Seat of the Synod

3 [KTK] Polluted Delta
3 [ZEN] Scalding Tarn

3 [C16] Baleful Strix
// Spells

2 [MBS] Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
1 [TE] Intuition
4 [AL] Force of Will
2 [AQ] Transmute Artifact

SB: 2 [C15] Fiery Confluence
SB: 2 [EMN] Collective Brutality
SB: 1 [XLN] Sorcerous Spyglass
Not sure which version you are playing. Let me know what you think.
I am testing the last version with 2 Brutality.
Can you explain me your change in sideboard? Why this choice? Sorcerous i think, it's nice to take information. Fiery conflu? for witch match up eldrazi?
I have 2 tornament in 10 days. I think the bigger i will play Sneak, but the second i will play grixis painter.
Hi,
I did some tests with grixis drude 1, i think the list can do something. I played vs infect, grixis control and eldrazi. Only grixis before side, it's a bit difficult.
I also did some test with mono blue version, it's really good too. Just i am not sure about some car in the deck.
Compacta why 2 perilous voyage? Why not jace in the deck?
Hey, sorry I've been away from this chat board for a while. I went to the team sealed Grand Prix last weekend. It did NOT go well but that did give me the chance to play some legacy in side events. Played a couple different decks but definitely did the best with the grixis painter list. Had one loss to burn. That's the one MU that got significantly worse when moving away from RW painter. The collective brutalities are good in that MU because you can kill a creature, gain 2 life and take out one of their burn spells all in one swoop. I also brought in trinisphere and in my 3rd game I had LED and trinisphere in opener along with welder. He let turn 1 welder live and I played and cracked led to get 3-sphere in graveyard and then welded it in. It stalled him significantly but I never saw a painter to go off.
I've really liked the alt win con of leyline/helm. It has won me several games. It's still not super fast though and I feel like I need more in my SB to slow down the red and blue-red decks.
As for brutality, it just felt that it did more overall than flusterstorm. It proactively acts as a duress against storm and other combo decks. It kills pesky creatures (eg.deathrite) and again in a pinch against decks like burn it might be able to buy a turn with the life gain. Seems like even where flusterstorm was supposed to be really good (storm), it would just get ripped out of my hand before i could use it effectively.
The confluences are mainly for creature removal and/or artifact removal. They are great against D&T. I will say the have been feeling a little slow though against some decks and I'm considering something more like pyroclasm just to come down faster. The lack then of artifact hate can really hurt sometimes though. Abrade might be another option but I wanted more of a sweeper. Of course K.command is always good but for 1 more mana confluence just does so much more.
I did 4 round tornament with mono blue painter.
Win 2-0 vs turbo darkdept
G1 speed combo t3
G2 lock the game with spellskite And bridge then combo
Loose 1-2 vs elfes
G1 : elfe kill me t3 with natural order, didnt find force
G2 : lock the game with painter And cephalid then combo
G3 : elfe combo t3
Win 2-1 vs burn
I hate this match up with painter.
G1 : fast burning me
G2 : i keep a hand with 4 counterspell (force pierce fluster)
G3 : same a game 2 i keep a Hand with many counter
I was lucky he didnt find his side
Win 2-0 vs infect

I need your opinion, Is it crazy to play grixis painter or blue painter for a GP? I will go to Birmingham.
I have some others deck but i have more experience with painter (Mono red, Rw, grixis or blue).
I think that knowing your deck is better then just switching to a deck that is (maybe) better positioned in such a wide and diverse field as a GP. Play what you like and know >>> play what you think will be better.
I'm going to Birmingham too and will play some outside of the box deck, just because I hate being part of the flock of sheep that just play the "best deck".
