    That would be me.

You were probably told to talk to me because I am the best magic player in California and, in all probability, the United States, which means the world since Europeans can't play this game.

I really wish I didn't have to do this. [/sarcasm]

The only reason people said that you should talk to me is because I did really well with Storm for a while, and still put up some what decent results with it when I decide not to punt it. Plus I always have grass, and I'm a pretty nice bloke. Though I do come on a little strong.

Also, I would have cash, but cash doesn't have the connivence of being really hard to steal. In my defense, I had the cannabis.

    EDIT:

WHO IN GOD'S NAME DID WE NOT MENTION THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS TOURNAMENT!

At some point during the finals, we got derailed and started talking about stuff like 2 Girls 1 Cup. During this process I jokingly said to someone who had seen it "if thats what rocks your boat, go ahead" he responded with, "no, I'm a Furry" the Sean (BUG Landstill in the finals) asked what a Furry was and he responded by saying "someone who is turned on my anthropomorphic animal characters with human personalities and characteristics." We were all blown away that someone would admit that in public. That dude had balls. Can't say I personally agree with his sexual preference, but man, admitting that in a room with 20+ guys in it, I know people that would never admit to fucking a certain girl. Mad props, but I was kind of grossed out.

How do you fetch your one-of stuff out of the board? Were you playing Burning Wishes?

No Burning Wishes, his 1 of's are Ancient Grudge, Crypt and Meltdown. He originally had 2 Grudges, but replaced one with a Meltdown since sometimes its just better. Crypt is to diversify against Cabal Therapy.

So he's assuming he won't Loam that sucker into the yard? Seems so chancy.

You can't not play cards because you are afraid that they well be Dredged.

Yeah, but 1/60 with no way to fetch it? Seems REALLY chancy. I'd perhaps put in some Wishes and leave it in the board.

I would replace it with an Ancient Grudge if you are really that worried. Burning Wish is dogshit outside of combo.

Burning wish definitely doesnt go in this deck. The maindeck is strong and the sideboard just to add certain nuances in some matchups. If it gets dredged away so be it, that means something is going right and its not such a big deal.

    Congrats tony.

I 2nd the 2nd Ancient Grudge, like I told you to put in middle of last week. There was a ridiculous amount of equipment cards floating around, that it makes no sense NOT to run more artifact hate.

I"m not sure if you've read what Nihil Spellbomb does, but it's awfully similar to Tormod's Crypt. So similar in fact that you could make the argument that they are functionally the same. If I have 3 cards that are functionally the same, I'd feel pretty good about drawing it when I need it. I ran a single tormod's crypt because its japanese and i couldn't find the rest of my spellbongs.

Grudge and Meltdown fit the same functionality for for the affinity matchup where they're both boarded in. For other matches, Meltdown rarely comes in (maybe against prison?) but grudge comes in against any given deck with relevant artifacts (equipment decks) where it already overlaps with EE and Pulse. Grudge just has the added utility of getting use after being dredged, or getting two uses for MAD CA.

Burning Wish is also terribly slow. got to agree with Ben on that one.

Also, I can't believe I forgot the furry either. LOLWTFFTW

That would make sense because I want to be a chef. And I love me some munchies.

To be fair, he won the event stoned (I made sure of it), sooo, just play more high and maybe you will have Moxen that match your grass.

If I would have had it my way I would have had him winning the event drunk and hallucinating.

Congratulations are in due order here. Way to take it down like a champ.

As far as our match is concerned in the Top 8, it was a pretty lopsided battle from the get-go. Playtesting will typically show that your deck ravages mine like Germany ravaged Poland in WW2*.

Game two was a grind and the way it was won on my end was through an early Revoker calling Mox Diamond to shut you off red for a while. It proved to be just enough as Seismic Assault came out way too late on your end and a mixture of Jace, Bob, and Goyf took it down.

edit: not sure if you remember but ELLEN DEGENERES
