    [SCD] Stranglehold

any thougths on this? seems like a good card for Big Zoo, Dragon stompy and Goblins

its a better mind censor without legs, so could it see play? seems brutal against landstill, thopter combo and other stuff like that

In the rare occasion that someone is casting an Emrakul, the second ability isn't relevant.

This is more like a colorshifted Mindlock Orb in Legacy, and that one doesn't see play.

It's basically a better Mindlock Orb in worse colors.

Comboes better with Maralen of the Mornsong because it only locks them out while you can gather your stuff for the win. Still expensive and kinda clunky, though.

the point is mindblock orb doesnt fit into dragon stompy, when mind censor sees play why not this?

Mindcensor has a body and is one mana cheaper (which is crucial).

    Re: [SCD] Stranglehold

Another point in favor of Mindcensor is flash. This guy is either coming down turn 3-4 in any typical deck that runs red, which by then is usually far too late compared to the possibly turn 2 or turn 3 in resopnse to a fetch that mindcensor can do. Turn 4 in most decks running red is far too late, the exception being Dragon Stompy.

In DS- this can be dropped turn 1 or 2, but most likely turn 2. This isn't going to replace one of the lesser beaters, it'd have to replacea lock piece, and it isn't so good in multiples... so maybe some kind of 3/2 or 2/2 split between this and Trini? Both are amazing turn 1 but lose value as the game progresses, so that's possible. I just fear investing a turn 1 Song into this instead of Revoker + Trini or Chalice + Gathan morphed or turn 1 chalice -> turn 2 song for Slogger.

I can't see how it's legacy playable at 3R. Maybe at R, but even then... doesn't even work with Eater of Days. How many extra turn cards see play in competitive play outside EDH?

    Re: [SCD] Stranglehold

I can see this as side to Dragon Stompy, but wouldn't be an amazing side as well... Maybe a heavy-lock Red Smokestack based deck could try it as well, with all the cool stuff such as Welder, Trinis, Chalice, Wasteland, Crucible and a super-fast Barbarian Ring kill =D
If you fail to explain the reason behind your choice, technically, it's the wrong choice.

Bah - I would have been happy with it if it was simply R - Players can search libraries. The extra effect and its added cost, make this unplayable.

Im quiet sure the card is not good enough to be maindeck material. But I want it for the outstanding art.

While the card design is cool, and the art too is very nice, I can't see this being played in legacy. Powerful enough for URW EDH decks though.

There's a decent synergy with timesifter or something, but it's not that great. Maybe you could add this to the Maralen deck to give you a little extra oomph?

This won't ever be great until there exists a way to give your opponents an extra turn for a huge benefit rather than simply "skipping" a turn. That said, it IS nuts with Maralen of the Mornsong.

Personally though, Out of commander? I'll take Trench Gorger for the one-hit kill.
