Thread: Burning Wish

    Burning Wish

Is there anywhere someone would have compiled a list of good Burning Wish targets?

We all know there are lists like this for Doomsday, but I think it would be nice to find one for the wish.

I guess it would have to include options for storm/loam/control/show and tell?

I think those are the only things that ever use it.

If there isn't such a list, we should make one.

On a related note, what do people think of Devastating Summons as a target for it in control and loam shells? It seems like the best wish target in those decks to actually be able to get something that can win you the game.

    Re: Burning Wish

This list is not exhaustive, but these are the cards I kept on hand when I played RGbw Survival way back in the day, and the cards RGb/w Loam usually keeps around. I'll start with the more common ones and work from there:

    Hull Breach
    Shattering Spree
    Life from the Loam
    Reverent Silence
    Pyroclasm
    Firespout
    Natural Order
    Devastating Dreams
    Armageddon
    Deathmark
    Reanimate
    Worm Harvest

    Ruination
    Tsunami
    Massacre
    Plow Under
    Primal Command

And, of course, Goblin War Strike sees play in Charbelcher!

    Re: Burning Wish

Typical storm wish targets (minus the ones AngryTroll listed):

    Grapeshot
    Doomsday
    Tendrils of Agony
    Empty the Warrens
    Ill-Gotten Gains
    Diminishing Returns
    Meltdown
    Pulverize
    Eye of Nowhere
    Infernal Tutor
    Duress
    Thoughtseize
    Infernal Contract
    Cruel Bargain

Some more fringe ones I can think of:

    Virtue's Ruin
    Perish
    Recurring Insight
    Balance of Power
    Maelstrom Pulse
    Vindicate
    Reprocess

EDIT: Devastating Summons is certainly an idea. However, it gets wrecked so hard by countermagic that I would be hesitant to play it, even as a wish target. The card is a huge risk in standard, much less in legacy where there's way more free countermagic.

DRAGONSTORM!!! I jest...but it's fun in a casual environment to pull out 4 Bogardan Hellkites and win on the spot.

    Re: Burning Wish

I've been toying around with a Valakut-Lands! build that relies on Burning Wish to find key portions:

    Scapeshift
    Treasure Hunt
    Mulch
    Primal Command

If we tried to make a comprehensive list for this would we want to make a new topic or should I edit the OP?

    Thoughts?

Here is the complete, comprehensive list:
    "Sorcery"

Too bad most of them suck, and won't see constructed play.

I saw an Aggro Loam list in the top 16 of SCG Baltimore running Retribution of the Meek. It's probably used against Progenitus and Emrakul.
