    [INN] Spoiler discussion

Bitching about the transform cards aside, we need a discussion for the new cards:

    Currently spoiled cards

One particular card catched my interest so far:

    Mentor of the Meek
    Creature - Human Soldier
Whenever another creature with power 2 or less enters the battlefield under your control, you may pay 1. If you do, draw a card.
    2/2

A white draw engine that works extremely well with Vial.

Also works well with token spitters and Karakas... If you're feeling silly, Norin the Wary.

Edit: What decks have lots of mana and lots of small critters - elves. Another card that probably won't make elves top tier.

If you fail to explain the reason behind your choice, technically, it's the wrong choice.

Mentor seems really strong in general, definitely playable in Standard and Modern, not sure if it'll crack Legacy though.

I like how despite it being white, Zoo can't run it because their creatures are too big for the trigger to work.
Please stop talking about whether Force of Will is broken or not. It obviously is, and rather than "the glue that holds vintage together" it would be better to call it "the rug under which you hide the filth until there's so much that you can no longer conceal it".

Its cute with Bitterblossom but a 2/2 for 3 wont make the cut for legacy.

I mean we have lots of 3 mana 2/2s (or smaller) that see play because of their abilities. Obviously the stats aren't great so we have to look at the ability. It'd definitely be Legacy playable if you didn't have to pay the 1, I think, but it may end up being borderline anyway. I like the interactions with Elspeth in particular.

What about a hatebear.dec that uses Mentor as its draw engine?
I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

    Re: [INN] Spoiler discussion

I see it best suited for aggro-control and control decks, using combos with token producers like

    Mentor + Spirit Mirror

At 3cc seems too costly for a white weenie that has already depleted their hand, and you are not going to stop casting creatures the first turns just so you can draw cards later with him, and white weenie without Crusade effects are a bit hard to play.

It's still a good, I would say on par with Ranger of Eos, which is also a soldier.

I wonder why they made it a rare, when Garruk's Packleader and Drumhunter are uncommon and Wirewood Savage is a common.
Also feels slightly out of color, something like making tokens or distributing counters would have been more fitting imho.

That is probably why it's a rare. This type of ability isn't exactly at home in white, where your 3 examples were all green. They will increase rarity when giving a color something it does not normally have access to.

Could be good for RW imperial painter just in case imperial recruiter wasn't good enough already. The white splash gets the option of running swords to plowshares, stoneforge mystic and/or auriok salvagers. Come to think of it, this guy should trigger off of any living weapon, since the 0/0 enters the battlefield and then gets equipped afterward. So stoneforge/batterskull might have just gotten a new friend.

If the test subject guy was 0/4 instead of 0/3, he'd be Legacy playable. Too bad. As an 0/3, he dies to Bolt and can't block a Nacatl. Would have been nice to drop an 0/4 wall for (U) to stall fast aggro, and then dump excess mana EOT until he's a 13/13 trample.

It's actually kind of silly with Thopters. Pay 2 and get a 1/1 flyer, 1 life, and a card? Granted, that's a 3 card combo, but it's still pretty impressive since it's not like that combo sucks on it's own.

This just got spoiled. Personally I like it as an equipment holder. Blue means it's pitchable to FoW, hexproof means equipabble yet unkillable by most of your opponents spells, unblockable well.. it's a cherry on the top.
