BEASTMASTER ASCENSION + GOBLIN BUSHWHACKER
Swing. Dead.
Raucous Laughter ensues.
At GP Columbus I was playing NO Elves against an opponent playing Merfolk with Stifles (i know, right? It was a long time ago...)
There were multiple funny plays that happened, but here were some of the best:
Me: t1, tap one for a Fyndhorn Elf
Him: Stifle
Me: ...
Next turn...
Me: Play Elvish Archdruid
Him: Stifle
Me: "Stifle what?"
Him. "Your Archdruid"
Me: ...
Next turn...
Me: Tap Archdruid for mana
Him: Stifle
Me: ...
And at the end of the series he told me he brought it Sower of Temptation to fight against my Progenitus. He was super excited about this secret tech.
This happened to a friend of mine.
Opponent: Wasteland your tropical
Him: Stifle Wasteland.
Opponent: Force Stifle
Him: Daze on Force returning the tropical. "Mhh, won't you have the Daze for that, right?"
Opponent: Daze Daze.
Guy was on 6-1 or similar.
Me: Tap my Forest
Opponent: Tap it with Icy Manipulator before you tap your Forest!
@picelli89: I probably know the guys you're talking about... and you just stole my best reply for the tread
Anyway you're correct: my opponent was 6-1, but you know his ''skills".
It was the same guy playing relic of progenitus and firespout in canadian thresh with nimble mongoose MD.... he also snared a daze of mine but that's another story...
Didn't see it, but friends told me about this. Some guys playing Vintage at Amsterdam.
Player 1: Underground Sea, Mox Sapphire, Dark Ritual, Dark Ritual..
Player 2: Force the second Ritual
Player 1: Force the Force.
Player 2: ok, ritual resolves..
Player 1: ...
Player 2: so what are you doing now??
Player 1: ...I wanted to play Twister, but I pitched it to force!
I can't recall having opponents making these brutal mistakes against me, but I have seen people Pyroblasting Dazes etc. My friend told me a funny story about a game he had a couple of weeks ago;
He is Lands and he's playing against Hive Mind. His opponet plays Show and Tell, and plops down Hive Mind, while my friend puts a Chalice of the Void into play. Chalice, at this point, does nothing to the copy of any pact, it just counters the Hive Mind player's original pact, which is why it was hilarious that the opponent tried to KGrip the Chalice, and my friend just targeted the Hive Mind with his copy.
Yeah! Knowing the rules ftw!
I was playing Enchantress, and my opponent was playing Stax with a very comfortable board position of 3 Suppression Field, Crucible, a pair of Mox Diamonds, a few Ghostly Prisons, etc. I had Karmic Justice out. My opponent reaches over, takes it and reads it again, then played Armageddon.
I wiped his board and he never recovered.
the hypergenesis one reminded me of what Gerry T. Did to me at SCG Boston.
Turn 2 Emrakul, Angel, Progenitus, Akroma's memorial.
I was on belcher and had a ritual -warrens hand lol
Okey, so this happened today.
SO, I'm basicly dead on board, but manage to keep his creatures at bay with Dryad/Scryb and MoR. I had basicly nothing whole game and still managed to win it just with double exalted Scryb. He also tried to wasteland Arbor twice while scryb was on the field.. That was propably the sickest outplay I've ever done :D
Best thing I have ever seen:
RB Pox thing vs Canadian
Pox: Sink Hole your trop.
Can: Daze (Returning the Trop)
Pox: Tanks super fiercely. RFG simian Spirit Guide, Pyroblast the daze.
LOLOLOLOL.
I've also seen people thoughtseize Basking Rootwallas, Cast 0/0 Terravores, the classic bolt your 2/3 Goyf, or better (in extended):
Goblins vs Junk - No cards in graveyards:
Goblins: Tarfire your goyf
Junk: Ok, its a 2/3
Goblins: Dammit. Mogg Fanati your goyf.
Junk: Ok, its a 3/4
Goblins: GOD DAMMIT. Mogg fanatic it again.
At a legacy grand prix in the states had an opponent, round 1 day, crack a fetch land turn and forget to find some thing. Not Kidding. Hes looking, I'm telling a funny story from the day before, he tells me one back, starts shuffling and presents his deck. I pick it up and start shuffling, then ask what he fetched. He had a priceless, dumbfounded look on his face.
I saw an enchantress player at 1 on the final turns in turns not block a lethal attack with an enchantress becasue he forgot it was a creature.
Last sunday I bounced a wolf token with jace and my opponent kept it in hand together with his remaining cards.
Me playing Lands vs Goblins. I forget the specifics of preceeding turns, but on my t3 he has a Piledriver, Lackey, SCG, Badlands and Wasteland in play. I have Manabond, 4 lands and a Mox Diamond in play, with a Maze of Ith in the graveyard. I tap 3 lands leaving up Diamond and something else.
Me: Intuition for Loam, Wasteland and Tabernacle.
Him: <He reads the cards for a minute and I explain to him what Tabernacle does because it's Italian> Keep the Loam.
Me: Cast Loam for Wasteland, Tabernacle, and Maze of Ith. Manabond, waste your Wasteland. Pass the turn.
Him: This game is stupid.
Or, back when Survival was still legal and I was playing Countertop. I was tapped out with CB lock in play and he had an Iona in the graveyard.
Opponent: Loyal Retainers?
Me: <As I'm flipping the top card> Better lucky than good?
Sadly it was not a 3 cmc card, but it was Karakas. We laughed for a good minute before continuing the game.
Currently Playing:
Just about anything, usually Lands or NO Show.
EDH:
Memnarch: Mono Blue Combo
Vorosh: BUG Combo
Trading is the best part of the game, or is it playing fast combo so that I have plenty of time to trade...?
I had a guy Thoughtseize me and read all of the cards in my hand for nearly 5 minutes. I had 2 lands, a Brainstorm, a Mystical Tutor, Reanimate, Iona and a Force. He takes Iona instead of my Reanimate. I was like "Really?" He says "Yeah, I don't want to see that thing anytime soon." WOW.
It is also surprising to me that people still attempt to Stifle Standstill.
Asylum EDH: Foil or go home.
I'll post a picture later, but this happened tonight.
Bant player plays Thrun. Grixis Tempo Brainstorms, and the group of us and the Bant player chat if you can actually target Thrun with Force. We agree it's stupid, but is it possible? Obviously, he answers yes. Then, not a second after saing how stupid it would be to counter Thrun, Grixis goes, "Force, pitching Submerge?"
We all look at him, and just go, "What in the sweet fuck...?" He immediately facepalms and we berate him for several minutes. It was fucking hilarious. Nice job, Chad.
