    @ Hardcore

The age brackets show lack of respect for people.
Bunching together everyone over 40 like this is an example of behavior
That make reluctant to tell my age to people.

I did the brackets like that so I could get a nice distribution. I think you're psychoanalyzing this a bit too much. I also didn't want to have a bunch of cells empty if I did 40-42, 43-45, etc. if there's a low sample size, leading to a skewed distribution. I'm doing it for hopefully nice looking statistics. If you are 40+, select 40+ option and write your age in here. No judgment.

26, started around the time Exodus came out, quit after Urza Block, started again in 2008 (Eventide?), started with tournaments in early 2010.

Re: Surviving Legacy Poll: Age of Legacy Players

I am 38. Started in '94, two weeks after Legends came out. Which was to say that I was 13.5 days too late to buy any packs of it.

I was 19 when I began. I can't imagine why anyone would want to exaggerate their entry date, but I don't know how the math works out for some of the rest of you. It reminds me of the 20 year-olds at the gym with arms the size of my legs who say they don't use steroids. Uh huh...they started lifting at what, 9, 10 years old then?

29 now, started in late 1994 at age 11 (I managed to buy one of the last Italian black border revised deck... I still have an Unsummon from it). I stopped playing some time after Urza's Saga and came back in late 2007. I discovered Legacy a few months thereafter, and have been playing exclusively this format since.

I'm turning 23 next month. I bought a 7th edition starter when I was 11, when Apocalypse already was out and Odissey still to be released. I was buying random bad cards for inflated prices, then later bought the Torment B/G starter. Then I stopped when Champions of Kamigawa was released, I sold my stuff ( all crap mostly). Then I started playing again in 2007 when Lorwyn came out and I started buying Legacy staples before prices were going insane ( I remember I bought my Fows for less than 100 eur/set, foil Wastelands for 60 eur/set, Useas for 35/40 eur...)

It's interesting to compare this poll with the previous one by Smmenen: http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/s...You&highlight=

We are definitely getting older, what's more, the distribution of ages from 2 years ago looks like it has been shifted... by two years. This can't be conclusive data, of course, but...

    29.

Started when Exodus was just launched.
Stopped for a while when Onslaught came out.
Came back in 2008 when Eventide was brand new.

In my first period I used to play standard and extended.
But Duals were extended legal back then.
Now it's Legacy only. No Duals, no fun.

I have been playing Magic for 1,5 years. After learning about the different formats, i knew legacy was what i wanted to play.

21, starting playing Magic when I was 13 and I started playing competitively when I was 16.

I've been playing Legacy since I was 18 and its the only paper format I still play on a semi-regular basis.

Re: Surviving Legacy Poll: Age of Legacy Players

I just turned 40 and have been playing since Legends in 1994.

Legacy is my choice because I have the Dual Lands so I can not be bothered to spend money on inferior lands and I get to use all my cool cards like Tabernacle and Moat. Newer formats miss out on the classic cards I like playing such as Counterspell, and only having 2 Moxes was not enough to make Vintage worth tinkering with.

Turning 21 in exactly a weeks time. I originally started playing magic around 7th edition when I was 10 years old of course I was very casual. Stopped after kamigawa came out. Started playing magic again inbetween lorwyn and morningtide and have been playing ever since. Things have changed a lot from the lorwyn days though. Although one thing has remained constant. People still hate blue for some reason.

Not as old as me...33 yr. old legacy player here.

Started in 1995, played casually with a junk all-white deck for about a month, and quit. Got back into it when Mirrodin was released in 2003. Got into legacy about 1.5 years ago because it was the 'big boy's' format. I play modern, but not much. Legacy and Pauper are the true gentleman's formats, with legacy being the more enjoyable one for the most part.

22 years old here. Started playing MTG casually when I was 7 (around tempest) cause my older brother didn't have anyone to play with at home. I played vintage (no powers tho, played UR fish) and extended, and never liked standard for some reason. I quitted MTG by the start of kamigawa block because of college and sold my duals and multiple sets of Force of Wills. Lo and behold, only to return again after 2 or 3 years to re-buy the cards I sold and play legacy.

Re: Surviving Legacy Poll: Age of Legacy Players

    I'm 34, and started playing when I was 15.

Growing-up in Milwaukee and being the gamer I was I was at the Gen Con where Magic was released, but didn't know it.

The next years Gen Con it was all anyone wanted to do. Those times were awesome. I remember everyone playing pick-up ante games in the hallways on the floor. Remember sleeves were not invented yet. I won a Mox in an ante game that year.

    Completely different time.

I took a long break after Alliances only to return after Lorwyrn strictly for Legacy. Flash Hulk to be exact. I was a sidleline deck tinkerer for a bout a year until I saw discussions brewing and made a list. At that time I had already had sold my entire collection so I'm slowly buying back in as I can't seem to get enough of Magic again all of the sudden. I have now just about rounded-up a complete mana base now Dual and fetches, and I'm pretty happy about that.

Legacy is the closest feel for how the game used to be, and it requires the most out of the player. That is what I like about it.

19, started playing magic during onslaught, stopped around ninth and picked it up again around worldwake.

Have been slowly acquiring legacy staples for about a year.

Yes you did, apparently. Didn't see that it had been done, and it was somewhat relevant with the recent "the sky is falling!" threads about the state of Legacy.
