Flooding in East Coast

How many of you would actually pack your deck during an evacuation?

I would. My collection is worth more $ than most of my other personal effects, so I don't see why I wouldn't take the valuable cards with me.

Several thousand? That's an exaggeration, the entire coast isn't full of water, just a small part of it. Besides, most Legacy decks are worth more than a laptop, and most people would pack their laptop because it's portable and valuable (just like a magic deck).

Given the fact that practically the entire east coast was aware of this storm days before it occurred, I would imagine anyone who plays competitive Legacy (or Magic, for that matter) that needed to evacuate the area - including retailers - probably made sure that their belongings were taken care of before the storm hit.

Otherwise, I would suspect minimal to no loss of staples like duals being lost in this mess.

I doubt it. People had plenty of time to evacuate/pack their cards/valuables, and there haven't been many reports of buildings destroyed, so I'm going to assume that moveable valuables (be it collectibles, art, high end electronics) either were evacuated or packed to survive the storm. I don't see this event having a measuable impact on the supply of legacy staples.

The next few weeks will be a pain the ass for New Englanders, though.

I live in NYC and the area got hit well... really hard. I know some shops that have flooded but, like most good business, moved their product before the storms were coming. The mandatory Evac zones in NY all flooded over (which included some shops on the LES) but I doubt there was serious impact on cards/collection.

Oh and the PEOPLE ARE FINE TOO

I know a couple people in flooded areas, of those that play magic, they took the most valuable parts of their collections with them because of how easy it is to find room for them. They may have lost some commons or uncommons, but none of them lost even a single actual deck. I would imagine the same is true of many people with valuable magic collections.

Regarding shoe-box collections. Well, they were locked away in shoe boxes, far from the hands of people who could make use of them anyway, so they were lost before the flood hit.

Some probably had their collections ruined, sometimes it can't be helped, but I doubt it would be so much that it actually has a relevant impact on the number of legacy stapled available to those of us still looking for them.

Spoke to some store owners on Long Island and Lower Manhattan, they said everything is fine and safe. Stores are closed for a few days because of power outages but otherwise worry not, your dual lands are all safe... for now.
