I had a big post, but I lost it. In a nutshell: ETutor and silver bullets are an option to deal with specific situations, something that could easily be a sideboard strategy. My short list of snipers: Phyrexian Revoker, Engineered Explosives, Ethersworn Canonist, Grafdigger's Cage, Humility (pretty hot with Lili Last Hope and ZPersecution), Oblivion Ring, Chains of Mephistopheles, Spirit of the Labrynth.

Hello all:
What are your thoughts on Tithe Taker. Could be decent in the Chrome Mox versions of the deck.
Also, on a scale of 1 to 10, how disappointing will the Orzhov colored Command card be when they print it? 1 being not disappointing at all, 10 being very disappointing.
My guess is that it will be a 6.
I don't think tithes taker is better than Thalia.
As for the orzhov command, it will only be playable if the cmc is 3 or less. I forsee them costing it high (5+) and putting a reanimate or mass removal effect on it. That would probably make commander players happy though.

That's true.
The abilities part of Tithe Taker is nice for stopping ports,
and the first to help slow down getting 'Cliqued on stoneforge activation.
Also it blocks to become a sword carrier.
Hey all:
New Kaya planeswalker just spoiled. It has some possibilities. I think it woulf serve as a replacement for a copy of a Pithing Needle or a Disenchant maybe. If you're Disenchant was mostly for hitting Vial and Chalice, then Kaya could do that but also have fringe utility in other scenarios. Worth considering. Hopefully this isn't the best Orzhov card we get in the set, but it's something.
The best card so far is Mortify, which is a utility reprint for standard. I hope the Ascendancy card does some work. There's a theme of making 1/1 flying spirits after things die (Afterlife) which could be very good if it's abusable in Legacy. Lingering Souls is already one of the best threats for this deck.
This new card is straight garbage as any way to control a normal game of magic. It's almost like a grave-hate PW, like a sideboard PW. That's a really awkward kind of design. Exiling something with 1 or less is incredibly underpowered, and the ultimate is dependant on stuff like Relic of Progenitus, Leyline of the Void, and Rest in Peace. This card is more awkward than getting a boner when your aunt walks by.

I guess it depends if it's Rosemary Harris or Marisa Tomei. But I agree the new Kaya is a totally wasted opportunity. Kaya was a good planeswalker with a kitschy reset ability but the general theme of "good for me, bad for you" was excellent. So just like old 90s computer porn loading over dial-up, I was hyped to see 1WB cost, then the art was wowing, then the first ability was meh, but it was just the first ability, most first abilities are meh anyway, everything is still good, second ability is, what? Very limited in scope. Okay, 0 for 2 but that means the ultimate must be awesome, better the Last Hope good... and no it's crap as well. Just some bad Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas. What a letdown. Seems on par with those precon planeswalkers.
We're definitely talking Rosemary Harris awkward. Liliana, the Last Hope was Marisa Tomei awkward; you're expecting a mediocre 3 mana Liliana, something that couldn't possibly be as good as Veil, then she turns into a straight up MILF.
I would have expected a conditional Mortify/Vindicate as the second ability, but not one as awkward as this one. It could have been 3 or less and been absolutely playable, even good. Two or less would have been borderline, but on the playable side of that line. One or less? Well fuck me purple and call me redneck, I got played.
EDIT: This card is very good. It likely isn't legacy playable at 3 toughness, but damn, a 4/3 flyer with abilities for 4 mana and 2 1/1's when it dies.

I was eyeing up that card too, but it's a tough sell at 4 mana when Jace is a card, and with no DRS acceleration anymore. So, it's a maybe a Bladehold contender?
I'm still going to be trying the Persecutor slot, since 6 fat is real.
I wanted to try a list similar to Mr. Safety's, but leaning into a 2-of Persecutor plan in the main, and Humility/Walker plan out of the board.
-Matt
Its very, very close to playable. I think literally 1 toughness short of playable, or 1 mana too much. Vigilance, lifelink, flying, gets tokens when it dies. I would bet money it started as a 4/4 but got changed in development. If it was a 3 mana 3/3 it would be a slam dunk for deadguy i think. Could you imagine curving into that after dropping a jitte/sofi?
My nerd-meter is a little broken though, because i thought Reaper of the Wilds was busted.

Oof, For 3 mana this guy would be clutch.

Couple more creatures spoiled in BW, both with restrictive costs. One costs WWBB, gives you a 3/4 with a discard and gain 3 life. The other is a riff on Cartel Aristocrat.
I'll reiterate: there is still potential to get something legacy playable out of this set in BW. Something on the power level of Lingering Souls would be amazing.

So I tried Kaya, Ghost Assassin this weekend (and Friday). Kinda meh over her so far. But not in deadguy, I'm trying out BW Helm combo Superfriends. lol.
So plan A is to kill opponent with Helm Combo (with either Leyline of the Void or Rest in Peace). Plan B is to flood the board with planeswalkers.
-Liliana of the Veil
-Liliana, the Last Hope
-Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
-Karn, Scion of Urza
-Kaya, Ghost Assassin
I usually kill with Helm Combo but I have killed with walkers. I admit I've only resolved Kaya once and it was a bit win more since I already have an Ensnaring Bridge and a Karn out. So whatever she added wasn't necessary.

I run 2 ensnaring bridges main in the helm list with 3 enlightened tutors to find them if needed. PLus a couple of unexpectedly absent and plows. I'm 10-6-2 so far with it, making 2 top 8's in my locals. Going to be trying 2 of the new Kaya when I can.
As for Deadguy, I'm going to be cutting an unexpectedly absent and putting another Liliana, the Last Hope main. Thinking of trying out a To the Slaughter and/or a Walking Ballista in the board. Opposing Liliana, the Last Hopes are annoying. And since they are usually in grixis decks (lol, I'm like the only Dead guy player left in my meta), getting Delirium shouldn't be too hard. Ballista is something I want to try....It a way around ensnaring Bridge, plus it another creature I can get back with Last Hope.
So back to Dead guy Ale after doing alright with Helm combo. Went 3-1 today. Lost to pox as I mulled to oblivion in game 3. Beat Humans, Infect and B/G depths. Record over 114 matches is a 58.3% win percentage. Not bad. Not great either. My win percentage with Deathrite was in the mid 60's.
Trying out To the Slaughter. It a way to Kill Liliana, the Last Hope and a way to get card advantage if I hit Delirium. It was ok vs Infect as I killed a creature but unfortunately I didn't hit Delirium vs Pox to kill Liliana (he had a creature in play). Maindeck I have 12 creatures, 6 artifacts, 5 Planeswalkers, 21 lands, 12 sorceries and 4 instants. I'm wondering if that's enough to reliably trigger it......
I also thought about Never // Return. It can kill Liliana. And later on it can exile a kologhan's command and make a 2/2 zombie from it. I know, digging deep.
Lili last hope is a beating. My current build is trying out vampire hexmage main as it carries jitte well, and can just kill lili/jace straight up for BB. My list is kinda weird now as i test out some tech, but looks like this (running around .500 record right now):
4x Thoughtseize
4x Swords to Plowshares
4x Dark Confidant
3x Lingering Souls
3x Vampire Hexmage
2x Bitterblossom
2x Umezawas Jitte
2x Liliana the Last Hope
2x Vindicate
2x Thalia Heretic Cathar
2x Chrome mox
2x Smugglers copters
2x Weathered Wayfarer
4x Wasteland
4x Scrubland
4x Marsh Flats
2x Flooded Strand
2x Polluted Delta
2x Bloodstained Mire
2x Dark Depths
2x Swamp
2x Plains (may replace one with a Thespians stage)
1x Urborg, tomb of Yawgmoth
1x Karakas
SB
1x tower of the magistrate
1x ensnaring bridge
2x Containment Priest
2x Zealous Persecution
2x Disenchant
1x Faerie Macabre
2x ethersworn canonist
3x Surgical extraction
1x Inquisition of Kozilek.
Maybeboard
Bojuka bog

Humility
Its an evolving list, and the lines are sometimes kind of weird at times, but its fun to play and has some interesting angles people arent always ready for. The depths package may ultimately go, but hexmage by itself has been pretty clutch vs opposing walkers and chalices. Tithe taker intrigues me alongside waseland/thalia/wayfarer to force opponents into awkward situations. Will have to see how the list evolves once I try to fit that in.
An odd list. Of course, I'm the guy still playing Shriekmaw and Hero of bladehold.
Since you are running 26 lands, perhaps you could run Mox Diamond instead of Chrome Mox. Since you are more of a token theme, Humility is pretty good here.
Went 3-1 today. Record is now 59%. Beat UR Delver, Miracles and Grixis Delver. Lost to Shardless Bug. Shambling Vent and Sanctum Prelate won me game 3 vs UR Delver. lol. Prelate was on 1, which shut down a lot of the deck and Vent hit 3 times, saving me when opponent resolved Price of Progress. Yeah, having 3 Veil and 2 Lost hope main has been great. Especially with the new Walker rule, I've had both out at times. Hero of Bladehold closed out 2 games.
Still testing out To The Slaughter. May try out Never // Return at some point but Sorcery speed kinda sucks. I've noticed a ton of my version is sorcery speed.
A player at my LGS has been doing a similar approach, many of the card choices the same. I don't think he was using Wayfarers or Smuggler's copters but instead was playing maindeck Hymns and Chalice (StP in the sideboard.) It was a pretty cool setup, he's always on the cusp of innovation with his decks.
