Here game one you should have cropped for ghost quarter that's a pretty common trick to play around wasteland ; ghost quarter his wasteland and go off in resp of hm wasting your land. You missplayed pretty hard making two for one.
Or end of his turn when you cropped for thespian's stage you should have copied his wasteland with stage.
Don't forget this trick !!
Also you shouldn't keep these needles against UR delver most of them don't play wasteland.
Thanks for the advices.
Yes, I've misplayed pretty badly in the first game. I did the same trick (as you mentioned) in previous rounds at least once or twice. Stage copying my opponent's basic or Crop Rotating the land for Ghost Quarter to kill tapped Eye of Ugin in response to untap with Candelabra or Ghost Quartering the problematic land before going off. I still didn't automatize every line of play. Luckily the deck didn't punish me for misplays here and there.
I thought I boarded out all the Pithing Needles ... was very surprised when I accidentally kept one in main and drew it. It was a long day.
Congrats on your finish. I was watching your games :)
I took Depths with me but I decided to play Merfolks this time (my friend made top8 with the same mainboard in main event).
With the increasing popularity of this deck I feel it deserves a proper primer. To do so I'll create a new thread and this thread will be locked and a link to it will be provided.
the new thread can be found here
