Re: Secret Santa 2013 - The year Santa gives everyone Coal Golems

    Hello,

I'm in Paris France, i can ship internationnally.

I don't have a huge collection, so i'll have a simple wishlist as what i'll send won't contain many legacy staples... My package will contain some french foils at least.

You will find my wishlist below. I'm into foils, any language will do.

    In foil:

    Bird of paradise
    skylasher
    Phyrexian revoker
    Shriekmaw
    Solemn simulacrum
    Fleshbag marauder
    Viridian shaman
    Thrun
    Bojuka bog
    Massacre Wurm
    Phyrexian arena
    Fauna's shaman
    Beast within
    Phyrexian delver
    Sudden death
    Sylvok Replica
    Skinrender
    Garruk the relentless
    Any Zendikar Forest or Swamp
ANy D&T card (except Eiganjo castle and Fiend hunter)

I'm looking forward to it... :)

Are you going to do a system of backups this year? There will probably be somewhere between 3-5 people who don't receive anything (there were 3 in North America, IIRC). If you have extra stuff, you can send that out as backups - I sent out a couple packages in January to people who still hadn't gotten anything. We had far more people volunteer to be backups than we actually needed, which is a good thing.

It also helps for the people who get paired with someone observing the letter of the $20 minimum rather than its spirit. We had at least one person that I know of who received exactly the minimum value of cards, but nothing off his wish list.

Asking people to include at least a few cards on their wishlists that are $10 or less can help some of this, since there's a temptation to list "FOIL LEGACY STAPLES" and then be bummed when you don't get a bunch of $90 cards.

We will need back-ups. I would hope to get at least 5 stand-by people just in case. IE slow shipping lost mail etc. I started so early so hopefully everyone can ship by Nov. 15th that gives a month + for packages to arrive and to kinda beat the holiday rush.

I always forget to sign up... for once I am in!!! I would prefer in the country but anything is doable I suppose!! wishlist to come soon!!

These are merely IDEAS, please don't feel forced to get all of it!!! I know I would prefer the person I am giving to provide me with a long list of options when finding cards, it is alot easier that way.
    Edited in:
    1 Thoughtseize (Lorwyn)
    4 Infernal Tutor
Foil full art lands (Islands and same art preferred (I don't care if its unhinged or Zendikar))
alters of any of the legacy playable cantrips
alters of any of the standard Sneak and Tell cards
    4 NON-foil Sensei's Tops
    4 Foil Hymm to Tourach
    1 Karmic Guide
    4 Burning Wish
    KMC Matte Black sleeves

    Probably over the top:
    Imperial Recruiter
1 Volcanic Island (revised although I would GLADLY accept a black border one LOL)

    Epic Bonus Points:
Alters of non-foil tops with the classic blue print look
Alters of non-foil counterbalance with the Top in the middle

Re: Secret Santa 2013 - The year Santa gives everyone Coal Golems

updated the list if your name is not on it it means I have not received your address yet.

    My wishlist:

going to try and keep it simple with a wide variety of cards condition is not as important to me since I play with my cards. I have a lot fo this stuff but figured I would make a list of stuff I can use and even use more than I have

Edit this in: The one thing I would love is a playset of FTV: Dryad Arbor it is so simple and pretty (must be the drugs) I love the art and how it all fits together into a coherent single card without being overly complicated like the Future sight version

not asking for everything just the bare min would make me happy

    low value filler:

Icy Manipulator (I am sitting on close to 300 going for 1000)

    mid range:

    Goblin Lackey
    Goblin Guide
    Mutavault (Would love a playset)
a playset of apoc/Ice Age pain lands :)
Cavern of Souls (Need a playset for elves and / or goblins)
Regal Force (I need 3 for my casual green devotion deck)
    Tooth and nail (need 4)
    2x garruk wildspeaker
sacred foundry (I need 4 more I have 4 but they are decked and its tiring to have to dig when I need them for a casual deck)
    temple garden {same working on a modern zoo deck but really hate digging for stuff when i want to play a casual deck for some reason I have 12 stomping grounds but only 4 of each of these :( }
a single vampiric tutor (I would love visions but would take 6th)

Commander precons or any precon(any of these we always have random people show up who dont have a deck for casual night)

Anything else you think may be cool for casual or legacy or modern
Make it super special altered basics are cool

    High End:
    Survival of the Fittest
    kiki-Jiki (I have 2)

    I Wish

    Duals
    Fetches
a single gaea's cradle for EDH

    I am dreaming now

russian zendikar fetchland altered by the artist and signed in 16 colors By the artist and by Richard Garfield and Mark Rosewater and every member of the Source

update as I think of more

yeah, but I can see his point, look at those ridiculus want lists, like ffs be humble for a sec (personally I would straight up ban them, but that's just my opinion).

Seriously, people should tone it down, writting all those ridiculus things.. noone's gonna get you that anyway, so why are you trying so hard to look like a jerk with those wishes.

Just give out something nice, perhaps with a bit of personal touch, be creative (*).

*note to my self: send a fine, your country's best chocolate with the cards this year, you can't go wrong with that

edit: don't have any want list, so feel free to send something nice (aka don't send only bulk of crap)

I was going to make it where anyone with under 50 post could not join but didn't think that would be fair. I do think the want list are far out of hand. Trying to keep mine reasonable but I am happy with anything I get.

I would send hookers and liquor but not sure I can mail them. may have to send Vizzerdrix(en ?plural form) again. LOl I remember one year I sent a dozen of them as the cover over the real cards in some sleeves.

You make some great points Mr Miagi. I loved all the personal notes and holiday card alters that many people sent in the old bragging threads. I think it should be acceptable to add whatever you want to your wishlist since it is just that, but have a range of prices from big to small. Someone may do the bare minimum or they may go big time since everyone is different with gifts. If that is not the proper etiquette then I completely understand though. As being a new member and one of those with <20 posts (joined the site yesterday, many thanks to the everyday eternal cast for directing me here) I can definitely understand his point of view. I would also be skeptical of a bunch of new people that just happen to show up wanting all very expensive things.

Re: Secret Santa 2013 - The year Santa gives everyone Coal Golems

I know it seems little hypocritical of me due to my not exactly high post count, but I wouldn't be against banning or forbidding the < 50/75/100 whatever group members or going for another solution.

I think this started out between the small group of source members who absolutely love and keep this site going. Contributing, discussing, winning tournaments, the guys like Matt, Sean, etc, etc (You know who you all are) are the core of the site.

This was a nice way for those guys to trade gifts/pimp stuff every year, since you all went above/beyond the 20$ suggestion anyways.

Now, after the brag threads every year, you have people jumping in/leeching in an attempt to get some of that, which kinda ruins the spirit of the thing.

I only did it for one year, but I did my best to send out above/beyond the 20$ limit. Maybe if we upped the minimum suggested gift, and made it mandatory rather than suggested (say, to 40/50) we'd be able to cut out some of the freeloaders and make sure everyone gets something fun.

I was always under the impression that the Wishlist was simply there so people would have an idea for what you like. This isn't a gift registry; the whole point of Secret Santa is to spend time creating a meaningful present.
If people post up dual lands and $100 cards, well it will give you an idea of what they are into, but by no means are you obligated to get them those cards.

Re: Secret Santa 2013 - The year Santa gives everyone Coal Golems

    I agree with mini1337s.

If the comments about ridiculous wish lists refer to my list well then don't get anything on that list. As has been said, it's a guide for what sort of things people like etc. Sure, some of the cards on my list are worth some decent money - but some aren't. Also, I agree that it's all about exchanging gifts and 'it's the thought that counts' etc. As long as some thought has gone into it then why would the recipient care if they didn't get a dual etc? That's not the point...

I appreciate I don't have many posts - I tend to read almost everything though! If this excludes me from being eligible for the Secret Santa then so be it. I just thought it would be fun to try and put a package together for somebody...

    Cheers,
    Ben
