How come the Source is not buzzing due to the current Brad Nelson -gate?
Some of my friends sell records,
some of my friends sell drugs.
I didn't hear about it yet, what happened?
Brad Nelson fetches a Ghost Quarter, then quickly taps it to animate a Raging Ravine, keeps his hand over his lands after.
Here's a Gif of the sequence.

Haha yeah I dunno if that necessarily clears him of all wrongdoing. This might be the next level of MTG cheatery - break the rules and then confess in a nice way. Then people give you the benefit of the doubt? Whatever. At this point I'm just jaded. These days it seems like everybody is either cheating or playing Counterbalance. And really, what's the difference? /sarcasm #saltsaltsalt

I'd be willing to believe he made a mistake if from the moment he grabbed the card to attacking wasn't literally almost a blink of an eye
Like him tanking thinking of his line, the grabbing the one land by mistake, okay, I've done that (I would say a lot of us have done that), tanking then very quickly moving to combat (barely even putting the animate trigger on the stack), yeah no
As for why no one has freaked out over it, based on his videos and demeanor (never personally met him) he seems like an easy going guy and not a douche, the community is probably more willing to believe he simply made a mistake then straight up cheated, which to be fair, we can't really prove he intended to cheat (unless there is a recurring pattern of him doing things like that)
Right, then keeping his hand over his lands pretty much admits he realized.

The way his hand hovers over his lands is kinda suspect too. Like he's trying to hide them so nobody notices his mistake. But who knows?
What's the tactical advantage to getting a Ghost Quarter over a Forest though? Unless his deck was out of legal targets to fetch? It's just weird.

Just some general stuff. The way Brad holds his hands over the lands is quite normal (you can see this in the SCG vs series), and the fast pace is also nothing strange (they were low on time, same was with the Chapin game, when both players just rushed their plays). What strange is, that he skipped the Forest earlier. It was something like this (a guy saw the video in slow motion to get to this result):
Starts search > Some cards > Forest > card > card > card > Card > Bloodstained mire > GQ > Blackcleave cliffs > Stop search > Play GQ
The problem is, that he said that the Forest was right by the GQ and he just grabbed the wrong one, which is obviously just wrong.
In the end, it doesn't really matter, if it was a mistake or not since you can't bend the rules in your favour (by arguing it was a mistake).
Greetings,
Kathal
How much life did he pay? 1 or 3 (Basic or Shockland)?
CQ and Overgrown Tomb can look somewhat similar if you're trying to rush things (you can clearly tell he is - There's 3:20 left and he's currently winning).
Oh! So it's fine if I fetch for Gaea's Cradle just because it looks like my FOIL Forest at first if I try to not look at it hard enough? I'm fine with tapping it for the green mana turn 1 only ;)

What kind of fuck-tard makes a mistake like that? I thought Brad Nelson was a 'pro' at magic? Mistakes happen but this is clearly not one of them. Even IF it was a mistake (which it wasn't) he should be punished for it by the judges. It's actions like this that make magic's competitive scene terrible
I'm pretty sure a turn 1 play, and a play with 3 minutes left on the clock in the 2nd round in the morning of sunday, when you are in contention for top (9-1 at that point) isn't comparable.
This doesn't mean it's right, making such a blunder - I'm pretty sure I've accidentally fetched Plains with Scalding Tarn, when you're playing super fast (Not wasteland though, or something similar stupid.)
How do you people not realise how many (utterly ridiculous) mistakes players make? I guarantee you, go watch some feature matches and you will see every player do some inexplicable stuff. There are just too many decisions in Magic to get them all right; sometimes your mistakes will benefit you, sometimes they won't. Please stop grabbing your pitchforks whenever you see someone make a mistake that benefits them.
Don't mind me, i'm just writing about Pauper these days: theweeklywars.wordpress.com
