36 Point Decks at GP DC

Doing a metagame analysis for the GP. Here's what I have for the 36 pointers who don't have decklists posted:

    17 - Wayne with MUD
18 - Noah with UWR Delver
19 - Patrick with UR Delver
20 - Andrew with Shardless BUG
    21 - Yoel with D&T
22 - Stephen with RUG Delver
    23 - Todd with DeathBlade
24 - Adam with UWR Delver
    25 - Damon with Dredge
26 - Ben with UWR Delver
27 - Harry with Sneak and Show
28 - Dylan with RUG Delver
    29 - Garrett with Miracles
    30 - Ben with Elves
    31 - Steve with D&T
32 - Christian with RUG Delver
33 - James with RUG Delver
    34 - Brooks with ANT
    35 - Jason with Elves
    36 - Konstantin with Burn
37 - Jason with Sneak and Show

Let me know if there are any mistakes.

It would be nice to have the lists too. Is that too much to ask?

day one coverage lists patrick as being on uwr

Decklists would be too much to ask, unfortunately. They aren't even that helpful as there were no rogue strategies that made 36 points.

Patrick was on UR Delver, coverage just doesn't know what they're talking about.

How would one go about combatting this metagame? I think the primary goal should be beating UWR delver. Presumably, if you can take care of Force, Wasteland, Delver, Stoneforge, True-Name Nemesis, Stifle, and Daze, you can take care of anything a fair deck will throw at you. You need to have some game against Elves and Sneak/Show, though I think you can just have a sideboard geared to beat them.

I'm fairly certain I want to play Deathrite Shaman and True-Name Nemesis based on the metagame listed here. Playing equipment with True-Name Nemesis is obvious, which leads me to wanting to be on Esper Stoneblade right now, though Bant is also an option. I do want to cut down on Jaces, though, since they're not very good against the Nemesis.

Interesting breakdown. Thanks for the work. Wouldn't have killed you to go to 34 point decks? :) lol. Speaking of which, when they (wizards) listed the decks for day 2, they didn't list me as Deadguy Ale. Think they listed me as Junk, that's the closest deck I could see on there. Hey, does anyone have the LEGACY Mono black devotion deck?

OMG, I heard it beat Show and tell. They put in Omniscience, intending to cast Enter the Infinite.....but the Gray Merchant ETB ability killed him.

I must say, with all the 3 color delver decks out there, I'm surprised an Imperial Painter deck didn't get in there.

LOL Gray Merchant taking over all the formats.

As for Painter, I think the presence of Storm and Sneak/Show decks in the early round was the reason why they didn't get there.

Also, Imperial Painter is a horrible horrible deck. If you can beat a Blood Moon ever, you can beat Painter. TrueBlade also shits on Painter due to playing, you know, basics.

I guess we never ran into each other at curio if you think painter is a bad deck.

This deck is literally just The Gate with Phyrexian Arena instead of Dark Confidant, and Nykthos instead of Wasteland. The inclusion of Gray Merchant of Asphodel is the only thing that really differentiates it. Honestly I don't even see the point of Nykthos in here simply because your curve isn't actually that high - if you were main-decking Sorin Markov or playing a full set of Gray Merchants I could see it.

EDIT: I am interested in the potential for this deck in Modern though. The lack of Wasteland makes Nykthos stronger, and Modern also lacks the potential to play Cabal Coffers.

I think he plays Arena because of the BBB, and its harder to remove.

Also, you lose less life if you have multiple Arenas. This is all just theory talk though, based on what I played against.

Arena is double black but I know what you mean. Also with 8 cards with CMC of 4-5 there is a lot of potential damage form Bob. It seems a great meta-deck build to beat RUG and have a game against everything else.
