In the gy, there are sorcery and land.
THe goyf is 2/3. THe rule is if i bolt the goyf, the bolt will go into the graveyard first and then the goyf will receive damage when it is a 3/4.
So the question is, does this rule apply to Punishing Fire and DRS.
Lets say you punishing fire the DRS, in response, can the DRS remove the Punishing fire from the gy?
No, there is nothing similar between Tarmogoyf checking P/T and Deathrite Shaman's ability. Damage is dealt, the card is put into graveyard on resolution, and then P/T and lethal damage are checked as state-based effects before either player receives priority.
That's not correct. First, the Tarmogoyf will receive the damage, then Lightning Bolt goes to the graveyard. Then the active player would receive priority - which means, that right before that happens, state-based effects are checked: the game sees a 3/4 creature will 3 damage on it, so nothing happens. Then the active player receives priority.
This also makes it clear while DRS can't remove the Punishing Fire: you can only activate its ability when you have priority.

The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).

The Goyf-Bolt rule should be implemented to MWS somehow.
Spells reslove in the order written, then the last step of resolution is for the spell to be put into the graveyard (unless otherwise directed). A creature with lethal damage dies when state-based actions are checked. SBA's are checked any time a player would receive priority. SBA's do not use the stack and therefore cannot be responded to. So in the case of the goyf/Bolt interaction, you follow the text on the card. 3 damage is placed on Tarmogoyf, then you run out of text so the card goes to the graveyard. Now that it's finished resolving, the active player would get priority, so SBA's are checked. They see a 3/4 creature with 3 damage on it, so nothing happens. In your scenario with DRS, the game would see a 2-toughness creature with 2 damage. It would be put into the GY as an SBA and when a player next receives priority, it's already gone.
does this lightning bolt rule work the same if it was a swords to plowshares instead of a bolt?
