For those playing a POD package including SFM, there is also the visionary elf to be considered @ 2CMC.
At least he can carry a sword (where obviously Blossom can't).

Something came up so I wont be playing today. Sorry guys.
As for Pod lists, definitely worth talking about. I just dont want to play Pod - I want my Survival back :*(
Your manabase isn't stable. You're 1 land short (Dryad Arbor should under no circumstance be counted as a land when building your deck) and you're not hitting the needed numbers to reliably have certain colors in your initial hand. I.e. you will have more hands with too few lands and/or missing access to specific colors of mana.
Furthermore I have a very different opinion on Pod lists (i.e. take standard Junk Fit, slot a couple of Pods in there and use them to augment your current plan rather than trade speed for value-durdling), but that's me. Some enjoy durdling, some enjoy smashing face.
@matt: Too bad. Better luck next time!
Doing both challenges at charlotte today for free thanks to the event reporter explosion yesterday, so 8 rounds of legacy on tap. Didn't have time to play in any last night, but did find a nic fit player who was unaware of our thread while looking for Ricardio. He was on bug pod...I referred him here because our community it is best community ity....drunken Matt posting notwithstanding (or because because of).
I did locate an Edric, so I put him in over the courser for today.
I think Pod uses a very different set of creatures. I find that in regular Pod I like playing a lot of creatures that generate value by remaining on the battlefield, this works well because decks are light on removal (relative to Modern). Pod however wants creatures that generate value by being cast. It's the difference between Finks and Courser for example.
I'm of the opinion that the most powerful thing you can do with Pod in Legacy is use creatures to jump spots on the curve. Turning 2's to 4's, 4's to 1's, and so on. For example (Ignoring the color implications of this for the moment).
3-5 mana
Voice of Resurgence -> Pestermite -> Ranger of Eos -> Deathrite Shaman x2
Alternatively
4 mana
Voice of Resurgence -> Trinket Mage -> Hangarback Walker -> Several DRS (and bodies)
7-9 mana
Voice of Resurgence -> Imperial Recruiter -> Trinket Mage -> Voltaic Key -> Entomber Exarch -> Voice of Resurgence
Of course, in that last one Recruiter is pretty useless, it's 3 mana to add a 1/1 to the chain.
That MKM Frankfurt top8 BUG pod list 5-0 a MTGO league today. Link
Something about that list. Still there is little to few discussion about that exact list in here.
Edit: well, there is discussion. But wether or not pod is actually solid in Legacy seems out of the question considering it's results.
Looking at that BUG Pod list - is Titania really good enough there? She doesn't have many synergies there, is there really no better alternative for a cmc5 Finisher?
Hi everyone, I'm a totally new legacy player, coming from modern. I'm planning on playing Nic Fit with shocks and work my way up to duals (chose this deck because it seems super sweet with lots of room for customization/brewing, and not counting duals it's a fairly cheap upgrade from my card pool).
I was going to start off with a fairly stock Junk list without Pod, but I'm really intrigued by Jonas Zimmermann's BUG Pod from MKM Frankfurt. I notice that the BUG version doesn't seem to have much of a game 1 plan against combo decks other than Therapy, whereas the Junk versions can run Teeg in the main.
I see this is an issue that's been discussed in the past here (Junk having access to Teeg and Rhinos for faster clock vs. combo, while BUG has crazy durdly value and is even stronger vs. the fair decks where we don't need much help). Yet as you guys have noted, BUG Pod has been successful lately... so what's going on here, and how can BUG be improved for the combo matchups?
The BUG Pod list looks really good, but despite the success I think a few things are just wrong:
- Why Glen Elendra Archmage only SB? Key card against Miracles and Combo.
- No love for Phantasmal Image? I would always play that in BUG Pod.
- The Garruk looks inconsequential: on the one hand he is trying really really hard to keep the creature count at 20+ with GSZ (no Brainstorm, 2 Decay), then why play a PW that is very similar to creatures.
