I'd like to play some vintage at Eternal Weekend, and since I'll be playing junk in legacy I figured I'd play junk hatebears in vintage. But I feel like BUG fish decks will be popular since they port so easily from legacy, and I don't like that matchup. I was trying to think of something better, and came up with this. I actually don't think it's much better in that specific matchup, but the novelty of playing ape tribal might be enough.
The idea is to blow up the opposition's mana sources with multiple strip effects and artifact destruction, plus Thorn, then win with big apes. Sol lands, spirit guides and Sol Ring help you keep up with Thorns to cast removal, Sylvan and Mulch. The latter two are a pretty nice draw engine; Mulch helps make sure you win strip wars while fueling Hooting Mandrills and digging up Treetop Village. I originally tried Commune with the Gods in that slot to find Hidden Gibbons, but found myself losing too many lands and Gibbons can't be cast off Cavern. In fact, Kird Ape had to be cut as well since I was playing so many nonbasics it was often just a 1/1. However, you can always hardcast a Spirit Guide for beatz if needed.
Is your sb good enough against Dredge? I see only three Crypts...
I'm interested how you'll finish. Good luck!
He has 4 grafdigger's cage maindeck in addition to 3 crypts. If that isn't enough....that's 7 cards. Even has ravenous baboons to blow up bazaar.
Good luck with this. Very interesting concept. Love seeing mox monkey I'll be honest.

I wish there was an Ape Visionary or something. Or like an Ape of the Great Revel.
Ravenous Baboons is the real deal though, cavern, ancient tomb, spirit guide, bye-bye land is sweet. Maybe in Legacy.
So, you want to play in Vintage?
Well, there's some things you gotta know.
To understand the metagame
The way decks play
And how to fill your role.
You want to play with Hooters?
Well that is great.
But Mulch? Can you tell me why?
Why not fill your yard with cantrips?
Because we have some awesome cantrips.
So, you wanna play in Vintage?
And you believe you can remove
Opponents' lands and creatures, moxen too
With Ravenous Baboons
And Standard's latest grooves?
You need to reconsider.
All of these janky cards
And look to some top eight lists.
You can use Ancient Grudge for shop hate.
Destructive Revelry ain't shop hate.
Look, I know you're out there
And you are eager for a slice
Of an eternal format worth a taint
Which Modern aint
But to play, you pay the price.
For instance, that enchantment:
Sylvan Library
Just isn't gonna fly
Do you wanna play in Vintage?
A deck clinic in blank verse? Wow!
