[Article]Eternal Europe: What Is Legacy Part I

Well, someone (Hi Mr H) on here started a thread on a subject I found both fascinating and a very useful exploration for each of us to take. On realizing how much I'd have to say about the subject, I then decided to take this to he articles:

What is Legacy? The greatest Magic format ever conceived.

You're an incredibly talented and versatile writer: everything from your theory articles to your deck brews and even more abstract works are profound and entertaining!

Don't we already have a thread for this topic?

Carsten, were you not allowed to link to the original thread in your article? Nice to see mtgthesource.com mentioned at least.

Seriously though... Is this thread just for saying whether or not we enjoyed the article?

On the subject of an all basic land deck, it was Dan Bock who did it: His account and a feature match write up. Long story short though, he wanted to get a free trip and his 2 pro points.

I also made a comment on the article, no hiding here, you guys can know my real name.

Karsten puts more thought into the first half on this article than WOTC has put into Legacy identity in the last 2 years...

Most of the 'Ban brainstorm!' arguments are based on the logic that 'more different cards should get played in Legacy', as though the success or health of the format can be measured by the portion of cards that are available and see play. This is an idiotic metric.

This article is great. It helped me remember a reason why I play legacy because as a competetive player I like consitency because it reduces the luck and
helps to win though skill allone.

    I enjoyed the article too.

On reflection, it seems worth thinking about how people would react to a deck of 60 non-island basics.

I would cast a Gitaxian Probe and win on the spot. That's how I would react.
