Thanks for the great episode guys. I enjoyed the different views and the 97% comment about elves was priceless.(sorry julian) Keep the hits coming and I will keep listening.
That's wrong. Philipp says that's way longer than it would take him. And nobody said that what Matt emulates was too long as per the rules.
<30 seconds is fine for making a decision as long as there actually is a decision. However, it's already borderline Slow Play and if pushed to that limit continously, you're probably in for a Slow Play warning.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
1. Discuss the unbanning ofLand TaxEarthcraft.
2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
4. Stifle Standstill.
5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
I guess I misinterpreted, but I still think activate, manipulate the cards, count to 5, is plenty of time to either make your decision or give a courtesy "time out" like in baseball when the batter steps out/pitcher steps off. I do it myself all the time so that my opponent knows I'm engaged with the game.
I'm not calling the judge after five seconds, but I do expect some sort of indication that a game action is coming. Even then, it's closer to 7-8 seconds.
At 30 seconds, I'm asking to make a move. Then I'm counting till five again and calling the judge. There's too much wasted time and Hollywooding at competitive REL. It reminds me of the poker boom a few years ago when I'd go to the casino and sit down with 9 Unabombers who had to look at their cards, pull down their shades, ask how much was in the pot, look at you, pull up their hood, massage the side of their head, then make a bet. It's bad enough people pile shuffle between games. This game really isn't all that hard.
I really enjoyed this episode. Great analysis from a great cast!
