I know everyone's been playing for varying amounts of time, but Legacy's been going on for a long time. I'm curious what everyone thinks was the best or most fun era for playing Legacy?
Is it the current meta? Was it back before planeswalkers or Eldrazi? Back when Zoo, Geddon Stax or Goblins was dominating? etc. What was your fav period of legacy and why

merfolk, zoo, tempo era
I like the survival, landstill, gobins era, before tarmogoyf
Do people seriously think Zoo is a fun deck?
It's so fkin boring. I'd much rather play Miracle mirrors all day, compared to Zoo mirrors.
when rhox war monk was a thing.

I would say right before they printed True-Name Nemesis.
When Zoo was a thing (and Merfolk, which Zoo preyed on)you could play super fun decks like Big Pox and Enchantress. Not to mention High Tide.
On the other hand, 43 Lands is stronger than it's ever been though, and we have a pretty good mix of control, combo and aggro/control. I think it's overall a pretty solid era right now, to bad about the price point for new or expanding players though.
I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel

This reminds me of when people talk about their favorite SNL cast. No one ever looks favorably on the current cast... It's always about the cast from a few years ago. Even though the critics said that cast sucked too.

No shout outs to the original solidarity-goblins-threshold trifecta?
"eggs... why'd it have to be eggs"
Yep, these were the glory days. I'll note that at this time you could still play brews to 3-1 finishes, and the format was still widely open to decks that didn't run 4x Brainstorm. My favorite, but terrible, deck around this time was survival of the fittest + sneak attack, and the best creature available was Bogardan Hellkite.
I started playing legacy around 2012 and it has been super fun from then till now for me
I don't have a certain year or era I prefer, I like how things change and new cards make some decks better and some decks worse
