    Caltrops vs exalted vs bands

    I have caltrops
My opponent attacks with a benalish hero and has a noble hierarch in play.

    Situation 1

If I'm correct, my opponent has priority and decides to put the exalted trigger on the stack, he gives me priority and i put the caltrops trigger on the stack. The stack resolves and my caltrops killed his benalish hero before the exalted trigger resolves.

    Situation 2

Same situation, but my opponent puts his noble hierarch in a band with benalish hero. My opponent gets to decide how damage is distributed in the band, but does he still get the exalted trigger?

    1) Triggers function as described. As the active player, his triggers (exalted) will be put onto the stack first and therefore resolve last.

    2) Banding doesn't change the number of creatures that are actually attacking. Exalted will not trigger.

Note that actually neither of you gucs have priority while triggers are being put on the stack. Only after both triggers have been put on the stack (Active player's on the bottom, non-active player's on the the top) will the active player get priority.
The seven cardinal sins of Legacy:
    1. Discuss the unbanning of Land Tax Earthcraft.
    2. Argue that banning Force of Will would make the format healthier.
    3. Play Brainstorm without Fetchlands.
    4. Stifle Standstill.
    5. Think that Gaea's Blessing will make you Solidarity-proof.
    6. Pass priority after playing Infernal Tutor.
    7. Fail to playtest against Nourishing Lich (coZ iT wIlL gEt U!).
