    [SCD] Black Vise

    The Black Vise is back. The obvious places for it are Burn, Affinity, and Prison decks.

    Does legacy have room for other crazy stuff like Forced Fruition - vise or aggro-loam with vise? Are there any crazy vise combos?

    Edit: I guess MUD and Welder like it too...

    EDIT: Caleb Durward tried it in UR Delver and it was cool there. Affinity, Burn--even the people who want Lantern to work here must consider this

    I'm glad I bought an FBB playset of Stasis last week. Deck will probably be bad, but it's worth trying anyways.

    The obvious place for it is Stasis. Reserved list rare as well.

    Black Vice is basically unplayable. I will be surprised if burn wants anything to do with it.

    I wonder about that - it might be possible to have a metalcraft package with cards like Great Furnace, Urza's Bauble, Mishra's Bauble, Mox Opal, Lotus Petal, Galvanic Blast, and Shrapnel Blast, but that competes with Fireblast's want for mountains.

    Alpha/Betas have all been bought already. Sadly, I'm too late on this one. I don't think it will be very good though.

    It only makes sense in UR Delver so you can pair it with cards that have Awesome™ and also because Delver is fucking cancer so there's no reason to play any other tempo/mana-denial strategy in the game.

    Aggro Loam won't run Black Vise because it conflicts with Chalice. Personally, I think dropping Chalice is the way to go, but historically Chalice-less builds have been unpopular, and I don't think BV is powerful enough to change that. Even in a Chalice-less build of Loam I wouldn't consider BV.

    MUD Stax with Forgemaster perhaps.

    Early game, stall the board while Black Vise does its its thing. Then when it's done it work, sac it to Forgemaster.
    I am convinced that WotC is "dumbing" the game because of all the stupid posts they come across on MTG-related forums

    I think aggro_zombies is right - modifying shells that keep cards in hand is probably about the right place to start. First guess is something with Ankh of Mishra, Spheres, and Eidolon of the Great Revel. No Chalice, at least to start.

    Miracles plays with a thin to empty hand with SDT + their library being 'their real hand' so doesn't care about vise or even hopes people start trying to play it. The fact that the number one control deck in the format is built like that is one of the bigger reasons why you shouldn't get too excited about this.

    I guess. Miracles seems (to me) to expend it's hand rather quickly then living off the top with Top.

    I could see a first turn, on the play Vise maybe getting you 6 damage most of the time. Strong, but probably not game winning, at least on it's own. We'll have to see. Thing is after turn 4 or so, Vise is going to be horrible to draw.

    As much as i love the card, it's pretty bad. Stasis lists are probably ur best bet, but that was 3-4 years ago. Nowadays with delver existing, i'm not sure. The card is basically negative card advantage against any deck taht play force.


    On the other hand, 48-card BBB (burn bauble burn) could use it with all the other artifacts and some artifact sinergy. Sorta like:

    4 Monastery Swiftspear
    4 Black Vise
    4 Urza's Bauble
    4 Mishra's Bauble
    4 Abbot of Keral Keep
    2 Goblin Welder
    2 Fireblast
    2 Shrapnel Blast
    4 Eidolon of the great Revel
    4 Lightning bolt
    4 Chain Lightning
    4 Goblin Guide
    8 Fetches
    6 Mountain
    2 Barbarian Ring


    Your aggressive 1 drops have both sinergy with baubles and vise. Eidolon punish them for trying to unload their hand. Abbot is both sinergy with all the artifact spells and draw. Fireblast is fireblast, welder is a way to recycle ur vise for additional card drawing, could be lavamancer for the virtual card advantage. Shrapnel Blast is the second way to reuse your useless vises. Wheel of fortune'd be amazing but red has no longer it. The fetches are there for the sinergy with the baubles, working essentially as a scry-1 effect if you have a bauble in play. Some Exquisite Firecraft could go there i guess, as a finisher, but not sure how often you get to three mana with this deck. Pyroblast and pithing needle are for sure in your sideboard, maybe Scald too?

    I really wanted to play Scab-Clan Berserker too, the card is so legit, but with 16 lands maybe not.
