Welp, Guess I'm playing Red in EMA draft.
Im stoked that I can now get a signed Gamble for my EDH deck. Andrew Goldhawk won't sign via mail.
Gamble was a rare. It's not on the Reserved List? Did they already reprint it or something?
"Anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job."
"Politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason."
"Governing is too important to be left to people as silly as politicians."
"Politicians were mostly people who'd had too little morals and ethics to stay lawyers."
Good to see Library.
While I'm lukewarm on a lot of the individual art so far, it makes me happy that as a whole this set has lots of new art. It adds a nice extra layer of differentiation between original printings and the EMA versions.
I just finished reading that and it still doesn't make any sense. There's this bit:
But the numbers just don't add up. If Urza's Legacy had 44 Rares, there should be 33 cards on the reserved list for the set, but there are only 9. Same with Stronghold, 44 rares, 7 reserved cards. I can't find a better explanation on WotC's site either, only the reprint policy and the list of reserved cards. I guess with later sets they just chose based on some internal criteria. Maybe price or perceived power level at the time.WotC reserved the right to reprint cards from Fallen Empires, Ice Age, Homelands, and subsequent limited expansion sets, as well as cards from Chronicles. In order to maintain the collectibility of these products, however, they would reprint in white border no more than 25 percent of the rarest cards. At least 75 percent of the rarest cards from each of these sets would never be reprinted in either black or white border.
I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel
"Notions of chance and fate are the preoccupation of men engaged in rash undertakings."
I'm hoping Spirit Guides and Red Rituals. I know it's a crapshoot but I wanna draft either Belcher or SneakShow.
PS. I hope they have Quirion Dryad as uncommon. So I can real draft (not wish draft) U/G grow!
My gut feeling tells me that Containment Priest might be in this set as well after seeing Toxic Deluge. Time to sell my copies before it's too late.
Any ideas about the other mythics? Red might have Imperial Recruiter, Green Goyf due to being a reprint whore, but what else? Black might have Bob, but no idea about white since SFM would probably be a rare.
For artifacts, I assume Vial at rare and Batterskull at Mythic (or Mythic Jitte for Limited reasons).
Wow!
Mana Crypt at mythic.
Belcher, RUG Delver, Death & Taxes, Colorless Eldrazi, Goblins

Balance might fit the bill for the white mythic. Looking at Vintage Master mythics that aren't on the RL, they put Armageddon in the second white mythic slot. Maybe the much rarer Ravages of War as second mythic?
Mana Crypt looks like another good value card. Set is pretty exciting so far.
