I mean it's obvious by now but it bears repeating once in a while - the set's being built to be played, it isn't like a FtV or whatever where it's like 15 cards that people allegedly require for Eternal. If rarities and card inclusion looks fishy, it's because they probably decided that putting some cards at their original rarity fucked things up.
I mean it could also have a lot to do with keeping print runs nominal so that the originals don't tank even though they aren't on the RL but that would just make it seem like collectors' interests were a priority. Or something.
Yes. If the creature in question has any protection that works against Animate Dead, being a generic enchantment would return the creature to the battlefield (protections don't work in the graveyard), then fail to attach itself to it (protection activated) and go to the graveyard. But since the creature has never been enchanted by Animate Dead, it doesn't die. With the current wording the creature is being enchanted since the beginning, so it dies together with Animate Dead.
There was a time when Animate Dead was worded like you suggested, and the most common Reanimator fatty was Akroma, Angel of Wrath. Animate Dead on her was a one-sided Exhume.
Giant tortoise , such a blast !!!
I've played the hell of mine back in high school
For only 2 mana it blocks creatures costing up to 4 mana and it can go agro !
The set is going to be a blast to draft, if only for nostalgia reasons.
But digital art sucks , I love me some Foglio tortoise over PS1 3d shitty shell.
New art is trash. Kinda sad that this has been an ongoing trend as of lately.
Baleful strix is in as a rare.
The issue I have with that is the fact that they have made the print run extremely limited and aren't even having a major event be Sealed EMA. My local store will be holding two drafts of this set. That's it. Their other boxes are being sold off. Which I don't blame the store for, but it feels like a lose lose situation when you fuck with making cards cheaper by bumping up their rarity while claiming that it's bad for a limited environment which nobody will get to play.

Pretty sure commons and uncommons from Alpha/Beta were on it originally (if they hadn't already been reprinted). At least according to MTGS:
Actually, it appears the uncommons from Arabian Nights and Antiquities still are, which is why we'll never see a reprint of Merchant Ship or Sandals of Abdallah, no matter how hard the eternal community cries for them. The first list of Reserved Cards included:
All cards from Alpha / Beta that had not appeared in Fourth Edition or Ice Age.
All uncommon and rare cards from Arabian Nights and Antiquities that had not been reprinted in white border at that time (i.e., that did not appear in Revised, Fourth Edition or Chronicles).
All rare cards from Legends and The Dark that had not yet been reprinted in white border.
I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel

Let's be honest though, paper needs reprints way more than online (online, artificial scarcity at that lmao). The limited run plus high ev compared to comparable sets like mm1 and 2 means this will only affect the price of fringe cards and commons and uncommons that don't get upgraded, and maybe vintage cards that aren't played in edh too. Combine that with the increase of rl card prices in response to the set and I see the format only getting more expensive, just like modern has after its 'reprint sets'. Most product will be priced to reflect it's expected value too which will be higher than modern masters, which were already being sold for 10 to 15 CAD. If modern is any kind of reference, while the set seems cool, and pimpers can get new foil/ foreign cards, the sets effect on legacy as a whole will be much ado about nothing.
I hear they got twisters miles wide in the Midwest.
How does Jace jumping rope have anything to do with Counterspell?
You fool, he is not jumping, he is taking the first tentative steps on the road to learning how to fly. What does take have to do with countering your spell? He is Jace mate, your a fucking idiot if you ever question his mighty power.
I really hope he gets killed soon...
