    From the Vault: Lore

If at least one of the cards is not either Skyship Weatherlight, Meekstone or Mightstone I will be disappointed as hell.

I guess that artwork is Momir Vig, Simic Visionary?

Sounds like a cheap excuse to reprint Commanders with shitty foiling. Last decent FTV was Realms, everything else that followed was underwhelming crap.

This is the big announcement Maro warned us was coming on Monday? Coming on the heels of Eternal Masters and Conspiracy 2, and in the midst of Eldrazi Winter, this is boring as sin.

Yeah, it's him, but that doesn't mean the card has to be a reprint of Mormir Vig. Might be some kind of blue draw spell or something.

True, but I think it is the card. Dark Depths is probably what makes the token too.

I really don't get why we'd introduce Data's brother in a From the Vault Set....

I'd be shocked if we didn't get Karn, Liberated in the set.

He is/was a pretty big deal in lore. Part of the Weatherlight gang, built by Urza, created the Mirari, either built or oversaw Mirrodin.

Nicol Bolas seems likely as well.

    Ya, probably depths...

I hope they cover things from the whole storyline with regards to "the stories behind them". For 15 cards I would want at least 1 relating to each of of the biggest storylines, but I expect it to focus too much on the most recent sets and the current crap since that is all most players know. and they can not cover everything :
    1. Brothers War
    2. Fallen Empires
    3. Ice Age
    4. Homelands
    5. Weatherlight Saga
    6. Urza's block
    7. Phyrexian Invasion
    8. OTJ-OLS
    9. Mirrodin
    10. Kamigawa
    11. Ravinca
    12. Time Spiral
    13. Lorwyn/Shadowmoor
    14. Alara
    15. Zendikar/Eldrazi release
    16. Scars Block/Phyrexia reborn
    17. Return to Rav
    18. Theros
    19. Tarkir
    20. Battle/stop the Eldrazi

3 of each of the main superfriends would make sense, but be extremely boring.

Prepare yourself for disappointment if you are expecting any dominaria. I fully expect the set to shill the wild adventures of Jace and Co. Throw in the myojin, preators and oona again and you got yourself a set of cards 100% qualified for FTV status. Urza who? Dominaria what?

    No Teferi's Isle I guess. :(

In many ways the heart and soul of this game died with Time Spiral block.

There are only 6 versions of Jace though! What the hell will they do for the other 9 spots? Two copies of each plus some emblems? Or I guess you could add in the planeswalkers who have touched Jace's life in some way, but that would be pretty weaksauce. Maybe just only have the 6 versions of Jace, and use the extra room to include lotion and tissues to help get the circlejerk started.
I think the biggest thing is the deep seeded emotional understanding that the right play is the right play regardless of outcomes. The ability to make a decision 5 straight times, lose 5 times because of it, and still make it the 6th time if it's the right play. - Jon Finkel

Last time I truly enjoyed Standard was in TSP block. and looking back at it, the block feels like they threw as much as they could in to it to try and create a sales drop to justify the NWO design change. Thee was some fun stuff, but if you had not been playing for years there was allot of cars that could easily confuse you.

There have been some interesting things since then, but without strong combo and control decks I find I do not enjoy the game.

Vindicate and Deed are pretty sweet cards and also related to important parts of the story. I expect one of those.
