    Thorn of Amethyst + Chalice of the Void + Spell Snare

    Hi All,

    Thorn of Amethyst in play.

    Chalice if the Void is cast with mandatory 3 mana for a 1 counter.

    Can Spell Snare counter the Chalice or not?

    Yes, in the same way that it can counter any other spell who's CMC is 2 and cast under Thorn.

    The extra from Thorn does not alter it's CMC.
